I purchased the dvd set "Cricut for Beginners. I completed the first lesson and thought it was going okay. Then, when I got to the 2nd lesson I realized I had to get the file for the cartridge. The instructions say to go to My computer right click and open. When I open it shows cutfile and gypsy file. Neither will open on computer. I am missing a step somewhere. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Thanks so much!

You'll need Design Studio to open the .cut file and a Gypsy to open the Gypsy file.

You can download the trial version of Design Studio from http://www.cricut.com/CDS/Update.aspx and you'll be able to open the .cut file. It will depend on what cart/s are used in the file as to whether you can cut it.

The trial version of DS allows you to cut with the cart/s that came with your Cricut - George for the Personal, Don Juan for the Create, Accent Essentials and Plantin Schoolbook for the Expression.

okay I have Design Studio loaded on my computer. Do I just connect the gypsy to c omputer and cricut? Then, what do I do? Thanks for your help! This is all so new and does any of it come with well written and expanded directions. I have downloaded and printed directions, but in the Expression nor gypsy were there really good instructions. There weren't any instructions with the Cricut for Beginners. Thanks again for your help!

if you have the gypsy then you don't need design studio. you can not cut from design studio using the gypsy.

if you have the gypsy then you will want to turn it on
connect it to your computer
open cricut sync
then click add projects to gypsy
then you will navigate to where the project is on your computer for the cricut for beginners

you will then connect your gypsy to your cricut and cut the project from there.

the manual for the gypsy can be found here http://www.cricut.com/gy...download/User_Manual.pdf
