I have had my E2 for about 3 weeks and just ordered Design Studio. I have a question. If you can only cut from the cartridges or programs that you own, and you have to have the cartridge plugged on your machine, how do you design with more than one cartridge in the same project and get it to cut if it is not a pre-loaded cartridge? I'm sure this is a simple answer.

First, the bad news, DS will not work with the E2. The technology in the E2 far surpasses what was used for DS.

Second, when you have completed your design using DS and you click CUT, DS will ask if you are using a jukebox, if yes, it will search your jukebox for the carts. If no, it will prompt you to insert a specific cart used in the design, which you do and then click OK. It will do that for each cart used in that design and when all the carts have been inserted, it will begin cutting your design.

Well thank you for the info. Guess I should have checked first. As far as advanced technology, can't weld on the E2, which is the main reason I want DS. If you have an answer for that, please share. Going to Amazon to try to cancel my order. Thanks again.

I really don't want to invest in the gypsy after having just bought the E2.

Once the Craft Room is finalized you will be able to weld there. Right now it is not working with the E2 in Beta Form but it is supposed to in the final form. I like welding too.

The E2 does work with CCR now...they just did an update to it this week....there are still more problems to fix but that part is fixed!

I have the Cricut expression 2 5th anniversary edition. I also purchased Cricut Design Studio I can not get the program to recognizance the Cricut. Did I understand in a earlier post that Cricut and the Design Studio do not work together? If this is so what program do you use to join letters together or design a layout?Confused

you did correctly understand ... E2 is not compatible with Design studio.

To weld letters you will need a gypsy or use the free online Cricut Craft Room

In additon to what Doxie stated, you can use DS but you have to use one of the legacy Cricuts.
