Wireless cutting from CricutCraftRoom will require you to do a firmware update on your E2. That update will be released soon.

Soooo, now you can use your adapter to cut without being connected to your E2! Enjoy!

Steps are in post 12 in this thread.

I have the Expression 2 Anniversary Cricut that I bought from HSN as the Today SPecial back in April. At the time, it didn't have a wifi connection. Now I see people talking about a Wifi adapter. It doesn't seem fair that this would be something that I would have to purchase separately. It should have come with the machine already. Is this something to purchase? I've been looking for information but not sure where to find out. Thanks so much!

During that demo on HSN, Jinger did says that we would have to buy the adapter. Smile

It would have been nice if those of us who bought the E2 at its original HSN launch in May could have gotten the wifi adaptor. I was a bit surprised to find out it would retail for about $60. Maybe this could be offered as a reward choice? How great would that be BigGrin

I think it will eventually go down and they did have a sale on it when it was first put on the site. Sorry you missed the sale BUT good things come to those who wait!Smile

Do the new Cricut machines come with the WiFi adapter already installed?

I was so excited that day on HSN to see what all I was getting, and I didn't of course understand what the Craft Room was at that point or how any of that would work. This makes me re-think jumping on something like this in the future. It took me many months to pay off this machine, only to have go and spend $60 more??

No, only the ones purchased from HSN has the adapters that they must insert in the back of the E2.

If you cannot connect your wireless via wifi adapter, then you have to make sure you have the latest update for the E2 and call your ISP. Two members posted their settings, LauraL and I forgot the name of the other member and the location of the thread but their settings might or might not work but at least it might be worth trying those settings.

As long as you have firmware 0065:0017:240 on your E2 and you have a wifi adapter, then you can cut from CCR wirelessly via your wi-fi adapter! Enjoy!

Steps to cutting wirelessly from the E2 to CCR.

Make sure you update your E2 to 65:17:240 or greater. At this writing, November 25, 2011, the firmware is 65:17:240 as you cannot cut wirelessly via CCR unless you have the above firmware or greater.

Step 1: Turn on the Cricut Expression 2 machine. Ensure that the machine is
connected to a wireless network.

Step 2: On the Cricut Expression 2 LCD screen, click to view the setting menu.

Step 3: Scroll until you find the CCR Login button. Click the button.

Step 4: Input your CCR username in the field. Click save.

Step 5: Login to Cricut Craft Room on your computer. Your computer must be connected to the same wireless network as your Expression 2 machine.

Step 6: Design a project and click Cut.

Step 7: Select the Expression 2.

Note: Even after disconnecting your machine from your wireless network, your Expression 2 will appear in the Select Device list for about a week.

Thank you and you're welcome! So let me see if I got it, you could not use the wifi adapter to update your E2 but you were able to use it to cut wirelessly via CCR by simply following the above instructions?

I do not have the adapter so I do not know what it looks like but while in settings you probably have to scroll down to find it as it has CCR on it.

More like the wireless adapter would not detect an update was available. I went to the check for updates on the menu and it kept telling me I had the latest version even though I knew from the number on this post that it was not. I hooked up the usb to update then. It is definitely cutting wirelessly!

The button for CCR will be unmistakeable...it says CCR in one of the little circles...I cannot get a pic right now...

Thank you, Mercy! It worked great for me as well.
I had the same issue as Kigz; I went to the "update" icon (wirelessly)on my E2 screen and it said no updates available. However, I knew the version was the old one. I updated through the usb and then it did update. I also found the CCR icon very obviously! Once the update is done it is easy to see as you scroll through the screen.

Do you think this issue with updating wirelessly is going to be fixed?

Thank you as well and I am going to send this in to pc. I would like to know from you ladies, with this new update, did you try to update wirelessly and if not, can you try to do so and let us know the outcome.

Hello Mercy,

Thank you for this important information. However, I don't understand Step 3: Scroll until you find the CCR Login button. Click the button."

I cannot locate the CCR login button on my E2. My wireless adapter is activated but is being blocked & I have to find out how to resolve this issue. Anyway, where is the 'CCR login button'on the E2? I'm at a loss where it may be located.

Can you please let me know. I've clicked on each image within E2 and still cannot find this button.

Any information will be helpful.

Regards,
Mary R.

If you click the settings icon on the E2 and you cannot find the CCR icon, then give us your firmware number because I am thinking that you have not updated. Your E2 should be 65:17:240 and if it is not that firmware, then you will have to update the E2.

Mercy,

I apologize for my (dumb) message. Can't believe I'm such a dingbat. You see, I didn't read all the messages in this thread, I stopped at #12. After sending my message I continued reading the thread and found out I needed to update the firmware which I am in the process of doing.

Keeping my fingers crossed the update will work for me.

Nooooo, no, no, there is no need to apologize as I went back to post 12 and included to update and the firmware number so I THANK YOU for alerting us that should be included.Smile Noooo, problem and let hopefully all is well after you update. After you are able to cut via CCR, can you please close out CCR and try to update wirelessly via the wifi adapter? I am trying to see if you are able to even if you could not do so prior to cutting via CCR.

Happy Friday, Mercy! I am not sure if we can quite test this yet. I have the latest firmware now, so when I clicked on the check for updates button, it does the same thing that it did before--tells me there are no updates available for this machine--which is correct because it has the latest version with the wireless cutting enabled. I can try again when another update comes out though. Just let me know!

Noooo, you answered my question as it did what I wanted it to do. You see, before you tried to cut with CCR, you could not get the adapter to connect with C Sync but after you cut with CCR, the adapter now connects with C Sync.

Now, I am trying to figure out if it was cutting with CCR or did the new update fix the issue. That could have been tested by after you updated, tried to connect with C Sync and then used CCR but of course that did not happen because we did not think of it before now.BigGrin Hopefully, someone will read this and try it and then we could be sure that is the case as I am about to send tech an email to inquire.

THANK YOU!!

Perhaps you can help... I've followed ALL of the steps, updated firmware and everything else needed, and my computer will let me select my e2 as my cutting device when I click "cut," however I immediately get a pop-up saying that my wireless device is busy, and I need to try again. I've had my husband look at it (to make sure I wasn't making a silly error) but it seems as though it's all there... just not following through. Any suggestions?

As far as your experiment goes, I've updated to the newest firmware but cannot connect through C Sync. This might not help you, though, since I can't connect through CCR, either! Confused
