I recently made a Craft Room account, and purchased a Gypsy -- so how do you link cartridges to Craft Room?

I watched a You Tube video (Session #7) about linking carts to CCR and when she pushed the cut button there were 3 options... link, cut or cancel. She has an Imagine, I have an Original Cricut and when I push cut, there are only cut and cancel options, no link option.

Narelle just asked this question of someone else on another thread (so, sorry to beat you to this one, but I'll give you all the credit for the suggestion, Narelle):

Have you alredy linked your cartridges to your new Gypsy? Did you buy the cartridges brand new or secondhand?

These are important questions, of course. If you have already linked to your GYPSY, you are only allowed to LINK to it, at this time! However, in the future (I don't think this has been released, as yet--but, I was away for a few weeks around the holidays, so maybe you can do it now), I DON'T BELIEVE PROVOCRAFT HAS GOTTEN THE ISSUE WORKED OUT whereby you can link to both the GYPSY and the CCR, as yet. THE LAST I HEARD, THEY WERE WORKING ON IT!

I think the issue might be whether or not your Circut is updated. For the original Cricut, your firmware needs to be 1.34.

If you link your carts to CCR first, they will also be linked to your Gypsy when you update it. Unfortunately, it doesn't {yet} work the other way if you link to your Gypsy first, you can't link to CCR.

Narelle has tons of tutorials on her blog:

And, there are also great tutorials on the log in screen for CCR.

My Original Cricut is version 1.34... I updated Design Studio and all the new cart library before starting any additional work... I spent 2 days updating the Gypsy and got it to cut last night finally. I have not linked any carts to either the Gypsy or the Craft Room, and they were all purchased brand new by me over many years... I only tried to link Mini-Monograms to CCR, because it is one of my least favourites... in case I mess it up somehow! I understand it is best to wait and not link to Gypsy right now until CCR and G linkings are totally transferable.

I'll check out these tutorials -- thanks. Been doing lots of blog reading over the past few days, they are a great help.

PC gave me the answer... my Original Cricut is V1.34, and needs to be V1.40... The firmware won't update to 1.40, so I may be out of luck to link cartridges to CCR.

I have the same issue. Thanks for sharing the answer from PC. Please let me know if you find a way to update to 1.40!

Never mind. I just read the announcement text. I guess I have one of the really old bugs that cannot be updated to 1.40. Crying
