I made this cake for my coworkers who were going on a cruise this week. I made my own buttercream, and colored the fondant/gumpaste. We all went to dinner the night before their cruise, and enjoyed the cake for dessert.

It looks great! How did you get your buttercream so smooth?

I use the Buttercream recipe from Wilton, adding Meringue powder to this. After frosting and making it as smooth as I can with my long spatula, wait 15 minutes, and use a piece of parchment paper and your hand to smooth out the wrinkles. Do you have a Cricut Cake machine? If so, have you made any cakes yet? I am making one for a friend at work (a Basketball Cake) and will post some pics of it when it is done.

I do have a Cricut cake and have made a few things but will brave my first cake this weekend for my son's birthday. If all goes well, I will post pictures. I'm covering in fondant and making the decorations in candy clay. What I have made so far I have loved! I really enjoy this machine and just try to find excuses to use it!
