I would like to know when did the first Cricut appear for purchase. And when did the board open? Who has been here from the start?
Just would like to know.

I joined the MB in 2006 & I think that was when it started ... I joined in August & there were quite a few members already. I think the Cricut was introduced in late 2005 or early 2006.

I think most of the people that I got to know back then stopped coming to the MB in the last couple of years.

I saw my first infomercial on the CRICUT late in 2005...the year I retired...I think. I queried DH on whether or not he would care if I bought one. At that time, he said it would be okay with him if I really wanted it. I didn't buy one then.

I bought mine in the matter of about ten minutes when I saw it in January, 2008, on a Sunday afternoon while DH was asleep on the couch. I had had it on my mind since I saw the infomercial the first time.

That was my start on the MBs, and I made all kinds of notes and things (before I got the machine) and was really AFRAID to turn on my machine. I had it for about two months before I opened it and tried it out. I had been studying about it long enough. I HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK! LOL.

I joined in Aug. 2006 & had my Cricut about a month or two before I joined. I think the Cricut was out for a short while before I bought mine. I'm guessing in early 2006 this board came about, & not sure exactly when the Cricut was out though for sure.

There were members here when I started but not a whole lot.

I used to work part time at ACM and the Cricut first appeared on our shelves in March, 2006. I ended up snagging the last one. 40% off and employee discount, that baby bug was a steal. LOL!!

I don't have one but I think the anniversery edition of the e came out in 2010 but don't remember what month or even if that was tied to the month of the original. That would put the e @ 2005 but don't know if the baby was aleady out or not.

My first hands-on with the Cricut (baby bug - V1) was late in 2005. The Expressions came about 18 months later (early spring of 2007), the Design Studio program came later that same year (fall of 2007).

I "believe" the Create was introduced in 2008, the Gypsy in the summer of 2009 at CHA, The Cricut Cake at the Winter 2010 CHA, the Imagine in the summer of 2010, the AE2 had it's debut on HSN in April or May of 2011, and the Mini in either late 2011 or early 1012. I am uncertain of the exact dates of their announcements, but these are the approximate dates when they were available to the public.

I remember my first experiences with the Cricut because the memories are tied into the memories of my first pregnancy. I got home from Germany in Oct. 2005 and shortly after I was having trouble sleeping because of pregnancy-related sinus issues. I caught a middle of the night infomercial. I thought it looked neat but I wasn't a papercrafter.

In Spring of 2006 with my newborn in his Baby Bjorn carrier, I stood and watched a demo of the Cricut in my local Ms. It was really cool, but I wasn't a papercrafter.

Around August 2006, I started scrapbooking all those thousands of pictures I was taking of my newborn and started seriously considering the Cricut. I asked for it for my birthday in October. The week before my birthday I went into Ms and there was an unadvertised Manager's Special on the Cricut and it was pretty much half off. I told DH we weren't going to find a better price and we bought it. I, in fact, didn't see a better price on the original Cricut for years.

I joined the messageboard a few weeks later as soon as I found it. It was already pretty bustling.

At this point, you could still use coupons on Cricut stuff. I bought Base Camp and New Arrival with coupons.

Exactly a year later, I was packing up to move. I wanted to buy the Expression and I needed to buy it before I moved because my local Ms ignored all the fine print on coupons and would still let you use them on Cricut stuff, long after the exclusion had been added. I got my E 40% off the day before the movers showed up. I took it out of the box just long enough to be sure it turned on.

At that point, I only owned George, Base Camp, New Arrival and Animal Kingdom. Then, I found eBay and things changed quickly.BigGrin

Can't remember when I joined the MB (it's under my name on the left) but got my first cricut (baby) in May of 2006 from QVC. Got my expression in August of 2007. My Imagine March of 2011.
Design Studio pretty much when it came out and the Gypsy in December when it came out.

My original baby bug was sold after I got the expression. I will always remember seeing the buyer cradle that machine like it was a baby out to her car. I knew I gave it a good home. I just recently bought another baby bug for travel along with a gypsy for only $60 (Amazon promo). I gave the Gypsy to my DIL.

All of my machine get used so hope to always have one.

Update: looks like I joined the month after I got my first machine.

This has been very fun to read!

I remember seeing an info-mercial, I dont' know when. One Christmas I saw a machine being demonstrated at my local J's ( the best J's demo I have seen, not so good now ). And I really wanted one. It was probably the next Christmas, 2008, that DH got me one. I found the boards and lurked for a couple of months before I joined.

I have DS but I don't remember when I got it. I actually just updated it last week! It has a file on it I want to make again.

I got my Gypsy maybe a year after they came out. Again, I don't remember when, but when the prices came way down. I LOVE my Gypsy. It is the best addition to my Cricut world that I could have gotten.

I bought a used baby bug when I "sold" a Gypsy to a lady at J's one day! I have "sold" several of them!!!

I got my Imagine last Black Friday, but my family would not let me open it until Chrismtas day . We traveled quite a bit last year (DH retired) and I really didn't start using my I until late in the summer. I LOVE it. I am sorry it got discontinued. I haven't has any problems at all with it, and I love the printing and cutting. I just wish I had more I carts than I do.

The Baby bug was sold on QVC I believe early 2005 or late 2004. My mother saw it and bought it for me, I didn't know anything about it, when I first received it. My mother moved to AL in May of 2005 and I know I had it before she moved here with us. I just can't remember if I got at the end of 2004 or beginning of 2005. Hope that helps.

i started with an expression in november 2007, as an early christmas present. i tried to get a personal cricut, per my oldest strong endorsement (she had 1 for at least a year), on black friday in 2007 at michaels. of course they sold out before I even reached the door. Sooo my hubby saw there was an expression at joanns and offered to get me one. again, alot of running around, but he found one and my love for cricut has remained strong. i joined the message board in november too. my oldest told me to check out the message board to learn "all the tricks". she was so right!! thanks for letting me walk down memory lane.

My first introduction to a cricut was a long time ago and my friend brought a cricut to a crop. I think this was back in the fall of 2004. This criut was attached to her computer and cut from her computer. Interesting? I don't know about the message board beginning as I personally didn't have a cricut until the baby bug was on sale at walmart on black friday one year.

I purchased my first Cricut in July 2006. I remember that none of the stores here in Phoenix had any in stock and I had to purchase mine from ebay if I wanted it in my hot little hands. Which of course I did. I haven't stopped buying since. A lot of money invested in Provo Craft products. But I feel it is worth it.
