Got my spools but wasn't what I wanted. Looked all over but couldn't find anything. Oh my, what a time I had. It was fun shopping though. Now, to figure out plan B as this size changed things a little bit. We shall see.

I will give you guys an option - either way - I will leave the swap open for signups until January 1:

1. Just wait until January 1 to post partners.
2. Do partners tonight...leave the swap open until the 1st and assign new joiners as partners as they join.

Let me know,

Thanks,

OMG...that sounds awful and I was feeling sorry for myself with my little burn on my wrist from the fireplace. Just lifting my hand up as I put another log on and hit it on the top of the fireplace...red and hurts but nothing like what you did. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm good with either option for partnering! Looks like you're still getting lots of response. Will check in again later to see what you decide

Got everyone up to here signed up. Welcome to the new people joining the swaps and to the ones returning. We are having a great turnout. The next month was supposed to be the domino books. Looks like another swap opened up with those. We will probably take a vote at the end of this swap to see if everyone would like to do that for the next round or skip onto what we had scheduled for the following month - altered mouse/rat traps.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments about the thumb. Doing better but very blistery.

Thanks, K

Here is a tentative list for future rounds

January: 1 Altered Spool
February: Altered Domino Book or 3 altered dominos
March: 1 Altered mouse trap
April: Dollar Store challenge - only spend $1 and alter it - can be anything.
May: 1 Altered Silverware: Fork or Spoon - seen some really cool creations.
June: 1 Altered Altoid Tin
July: Glass / Transparencies (These are small and beautiful - I have great link for a tutorial)
August: 1 Mini Canvas with Small easel (The really small ones)
September: Small hand-made embellies (will have different groups for types)
October: Thimbles
November: 5 Pearl Flowers or 3 Sprays (The flowers come out really neat - very vintage/shabby chic - from Jennings on You Tube)
December: 1 CD Case Calendar

Any suggestions or input would be welcome. Thanks, Kel

Seeing as I won't be around, I'd suggest switching Feb & March. I was looking forward to trying a mousetrap.Blushing

I can wait for my partner until 1/1 BigGrin

I think what I will do is move everything up a month and move this down the list towards the end of the year so we are not overlapping swaps. I thought posting a list in October would prevent duplication of swapsLOL, but no worries. Jean, I am looking forward altered mouse traps too. I have done one and I had fun doing it.

Have a great day all.

That's a great idea...I think we will do the rat traps in Feb. Then we can always take vote at the end of each round to see what people would love to do next. This is going to be a light and fun swap.

For the challenge thing...I was going around the dollar store looking at items with a whole new perspective....lol..Terri, you should post what you have done to the books...I just love mine.

So I have to do a you tube video as practice for the design team. They pushed that back and it starts in February, but they want me to start having a few videos up before hand. Yikes...I don't even know how to do that. Does anyone have any good ideas for a first project or some pointers on how to do a video on youtube?

We are still doing the kick off party from 8 - 12. There will be games, tutorials, projects, free downloads. I need to get a few projects ready for that too. At work it is year-end....this is going to be a crazy week.

Does anyone have any fun new years plans?

I vote for doing partners however you like. To me it would seem less work to do them on 1/1, but I am merely a participant in this wonderful swap.

Kel~ Can you post a link to your website? I would love to check out what you're doing! The only pointers I have for a youtube video comes only from watching them...I've never made one. But I watch tutorials often. The better videos are the ones where the crafter has someone else videoing them. I'm thinking of doing one after the first of the year for my hat boxes. I couldn't find one at all when I was making that project for Pamela in the NE swap and so I made up my own and my DD says that I should post it. My DS is going to do the videoing! I hate those that when they're in the middle of the tutorial they have to stop and reposition the camera/video equipment to get a better view. Also, I've pre-written all of the supplies & directions so that I can post them with my video. I always like when crafters do that! And last but not least, which I'm sure you would already do but which makes me so crazy when watching a tutorial or reading directions is when cutting/scoring paper that's not 12 x 12 you tell people landscape/portrait, long/short side to cut/score. Just hate when they don't tell you at all and you waste a piece of paper before you realize that you were supposed to do it the other way. Hope this helps. I can't wait to check yours out! Post a link to it when you're done, please BigGrin BigGrin

We're going to a friend's house for New Year's Eve a bonfire and barbeque everybody brings something...I usually do some kind of seasonal sangria and Jambalaya or something like that ...it's always lots of great friends and great food.

Hope everyone is having a great night tonight...looking forward to the weekend

Thanks I will take those points into consideration. Any feedback would be awesome. It is on creativesoupforthesoul.com it will be 8-12 pacific time on the 1st(11 - 3 for you easteners). There will be tutorials, demos, games, prizes,...etc. It will be fun. Then in February when the design team will start...there is one set of the design team that will do youtube videos, the others will blog....and i guess i am doing both.

Thanks, Kel

I did a swap like this and I agree: it was a lot of fun. I saw your altered puzzle pieces and they are so pretty. I love the vintage look.

Kelly, just do whatever is easiest for you for picking partners. :) I don't know anything about making videos for crafting but I use a little tripod with flexible legs for my video camera when I want to be in the video. If you can't get someone to hold the camera for you, a tripod might be something to think about. I can bend the legs to get a certain angle if I need to and it isn't expensive. I don't know what kind of video camera you have, but here is a link from Amazon so you can see what I am talking about:
Tripod pics

I got mine at Staples, so you don't have to get it from Amazon. There are also other types of tripods and brands.
