I just finished watching the video and have one more question about layering. I was making a Mickey Mouse head. I cut the shadow layer, (his head silhouette, and when I cut out his "Face" It was twice as big as the shadow head. Is there a formula that you can use to make sure both pieces will be the right sizes?

When cutting layers, you need to make sure that the Relative Size feature is on {not the Real Size, Real Dial Size or True Size, depending on what model/software you are using}.

Could you explain how to do that? I have had my expression 2 for a couple months and I keep getting frustrated because I don't know what I am doing wrong. I can get a couple of the base parts ( the basic layer and the shift one) to work and everything beyond that is the wrong size, epecially those in the layer /layer shift area. I really want to like this machine. Thanks for your help!

In your user manual, on page 3, is a list of what the icons mean. You'll also find step by step instructions in the manual for selecting Relative or Real size.
