Debbie - Glad the weather has cooled down for you. Hopefully the bad weather next week will miss you.

Joy - Getting yarn needles sounds like a good excuse to check out the local craft stores. Maybe you'll find some fun stuff!

Angie - I bet your Valentine decorations will turn out great, better than you imagine.

Hi everyone;
Well, it's finally Friday...seems like it's been a long week. I guess it's because it was our first week back to school. Came home not feeling well yesterday and wasn't much better this a.m. so decided to stay home. Feeling better now, so I guess it was another bug of some sort.Cursing! Tomorrow have some errands to run...our family photos are supposed to be in so will check on them.
It's been cold here the past few days but is supposed to be warming up for next week.BigGrin

Debbie: glad your weather is more comfortable for you. Glad your wedding plans are falling into place. Congrats to your ds on his college course...what is it? Enjoy your visit with your friends

Joy: you are just a knitting machine. I've decided to knit up a bunch of squares with my left over wool for a campaign that our M's runs...Blankets for Canada. Hope the windows got looked after.

Angie: your Valentines party sounds like a great idea. Glad you have running water again, hope you can get some heat in your studio. Can you use a space heater?

Shelly: hope you don't get hit too hard with the storm

Bye for now, take care everyone.BigGrin

Hi.

Jill has an M's and a J's a little over mile away! They are small stores, but nice and close. I got several Christmas paper stacks for 70% off! And I got the chalkboard stack. And ribbon yarn to try those ruffle scarfs I have been seeing.

Jill has Lasik on her eyes this morning, so I took the ruffle yarn to start knitting a scarf. It is really odd to knit with. Way different yarn.

Sandra, glad you are feeling a bit better. They are calling the flu an epidemic here. I don't know about Canada. SO GLAD we get flu shots. I know that you can still get it, but usually not as bad as a regular case.

Angie, I am sure that your Valentine's party will be lots of fun! And I am so happy that your water thawed!!!

Debbie, you are WAY ahead of us, and Kate's wedding will be six weeks from the time we get home. Oh boy. Glad my girls go for simple.

Jeffie is playing a rousing game of fetch in the middle of the living room. He has the area rug all scrooged up.

I am hoping to use Artiste and the chalboard paper (I bought chalk) to make my Christmas Thank You's next week. Also, there is a mall with a Macy's, Penny's, and Nordstrom Rack right down the road (a mile). I would like to go and see if I can find a dress for Kate's wedding. If I don't ever find one, I have a dress that I would be content to wear. It would just be fun to have a new one.

Last spring when we walked to the mall/Costco/J's and M's with Jeffie, he was so small that he would get tired and we had to carry him part of the way! Not any more!!!!!

Hi girls...I picked up a cold. I felt pretty lousy yesterday and had to miss my Friday night "date" (indoor cycling class) with my hubby. I hated to miss it, but my head was pounding.

I spent much of my week running errands. I hope next week is a quieter week.

DS has a basketball game today, they play one of the more challenging teams. It's his last regular season game before heading into two weeks of tournament play. Won't be long then cycling season will start!

Congrats to DS on getting into College for his courses. Lucky you nice warm weather. here cloudy, raining the past couple of days.

Angie... Wow it really must be cold for your pipes to freeze. Glad it is warming up for you.

Sonya.. hoping you feel better

Joy.. treat yourself to a new dress you deserve it your the mother of the bride..
Let me know how you like the chalkboard paper

Sandra... glad you are feeling better... like Joy said the Flu is out there and no matter who you talk to had it or has it.

i am allergic to the Flu Vaccine so I have to be careful where i go who I am around.

Well busy Sat. here Chiropractor in the morning, weighin and then came home went to get my hair touched up and cut now home.

I said to DH my hair looks so good lets go out to dinner LOL I think I am in the mood for "The Outback"

Happy Saturday!
First week back at school finished! Reasonably uneventful.
I don't have much motivation today. I have gotten a few little chores done, and did a short Zumba workout. I'm not even much feeling like crafting. I might just find a corner with my book for a couple hours. I have a turkey defrosting for tomorrow's supper, but nothing in mind for tonight.
Nancy No better reason to go out than just feeling "pretty" enough. Good for you. I always like to go out after I have been beautified.
Pedal Hope you feel better soon!
Joy You sure got some awesome paper deals! My mom makes those ruffle scarves. They are very cute. You should get a new dress! I look forward to dress shopping when my DD marries (I guess I should say "if", she is determined to never marry or have children. She is only 12, so lots of time to change her mind!)
Sandra It is better to stay home and get better than press yourself and chance spreading to others.
Debbie Congrats to your son! Many students wait a long time to get into the programs they want. Enjoy your company.
Angie Take care in your extreme weather. It is hard not having running water. We struggled with that a lot in the winters when I was growing up on the farm. In a way it is good for the kids to experience it though. Not that it is any fun.
Take care
Laura

Hi girls, feeling better each day though our coughs seem to be hanging on. I keep popping Hall's cough drops when needed!
Sorry if this is too much information...I am off to get my first routine colonoscopy on Monday. Sunday is going to be prep work....hate the thought!Sad

DH got an appt for his MRI on Weds and then we go see a Ortho consult the following week...praying he can make it till after DS's Marine graduation on Feb. 1st!

JOY
, I have enjoyed some of Debbie Macomber(Knitter series). I have another series for you when you finish. They are by Jennifer Chiaverini> Elm Creek Quilters series. Excellent series!

Sonya, sorry you are *under-the-weather*! Hope you feel better soon.

Off to catch up on what else you all have been up to...

Hi everyone;
Picked up the family photos this a.m., did some errands, came home to do more laundry and housework and now have some turkey soup cooking. We have an afternoon hockey game tomorrow so I thought it would be easy to have after we get home. Think we will have it tonite also as there's quite a bit.

Joy: you sure found some deals. I just finished a couple of those scarves. I agree the yarn is quite different to work with but they are easy to make. Can't wait to see what you do with the chalk paper. Hope Jill's Lasik surgery went well. The flu is pretty bad up here also and we always get the flu shots. Glad we did because I wouldn't want to feel much worse than I did. Good luck dress shopping, hope you find something.

Jeanne: oh, those colonoscopys are so much fun,LOL do you have to drink a bunch of stuff tomorrow. Hope dh's appt.s go well. Troy is off to see a specialist to get a custom made knee brace on Mon. Once he gets it he will be able to go back to playing floor hockey.

Laura: good plan, just sit and read and relax.BigGrin I'm feeling much better today.

Nancy: hope dh takes you out to The Outback for dinner.

Sonja: hope you are on the mend also. Hope ds's basketball game went well.

Take care everyone, off to finish laundryMellow

Jeanne - Good luck on the colonoscopy. The beforehand stuff is awful, the actual procedure isn't bad. Hope DH's appts. go well!

Joy - Hope your scarves turn out well. I have made a bunch, but I crochet them. Let us know how you like the chalkboard paper. I have seen that and fabric paper and wondered about getting them. But I don't have anything in mind to do with it, so I decided not to get it. But I wonder if I should in case I find something to make and then can't find the paper. But I do too much of that, and need to stop. Hope you find a dress. Nice to have a new dress, especially for a special occasion. Where is your cruise too??

Nancy - Mmm, hope you get to go to Outback. Its so good!

Debbie - Congrats to your son! That's great!

To all those who are under the weather, hope you are all feeling better soon!! Rest and relax so you can get better.

Debbie...so happy for DS!!! Proud of him!!!

Hi all....not feeling too great, so I have read but won't comment.

I still have a nasty cold and we had to take DS to convenient care last night. He has an ear infection. Poor little one. The care center was very busy, but at least he is on antibiotics now. He did play his ball game and did well, despite feeling crummy. He's a tough cookie!

Haven't been on the board over the holidays Glad everyone is ok after all the power outages, etc. we were pretty lucky here in Iowa where we usually get hit hard with winter storms.
It is so fun to read everyones post and see what they are up to. Crafters are such a great community anyway..........always have been.
Our delinquent pet rabbit coped an attitude. I moved his food dishes and he promptly moved em back to the exact spots where they were, I was trying to give him more room but guess he liked the old layout best. too funny. I always get asked at work how he is doing well I found out Fri. when I got out of the car to go into work. I looked at my fairly new big Miche bag and saw tiny chew marks on one of the handles. i could harldy contain myself. AARGH that BAD rabbit. Anyway he must of not liked the taste as he chewed no further and luckily I can trim it smooth and put black leather dye on the edge to cover up the white core of the handle.
Decided I am gonna contact PUrina and comment on how they only do dog and cat food commercials and we use Purina rabbit food, BFF buys Purina horse food, etc. They need to promote their other pet products as well. I would have never guessed they made rabbit pellets till I went shopping for food for Bunny Boy.
Just watched a neat youtube video on making gift card holders out of toilet paper roll cores. Way cute idea at www.margaret-ilovecrafting.blogspot.com and even though the holiday is over I have a bunch of birthdays coming up and am now making a welcome card type thing for new residents at the assit. living where I work and got the idea to do this format and put welcome on the front and have a pull out tag with a gift cert. for their first shampoo & set on the inside. I have been saving the cardboard things, but hubby keeps taking them from time to time for the bunny to chew on- it is paper which is wood and they chew wood when they can get it. I have a good stash of them up in my craft room at home. Always was going to make the mini album out of them with the bind it all rings edge.........and each one has a pull out tag in the middle fun project..............Happy crafting and stay warm if you live in a cold zone like I do. sharanPaperkrafter

Well we were suppose to have a nice weekend!!! rained all week, so dingy out

Anyway when I came home from my hair appt. DH was cleaning out a drawer of his and came across so many gift cards.

So we went to the OutBack for steak dinner with gift card in hand that was nice

Then today we went to see a movie with a gift card we saw "Parental Guidance" Billy Crystall and bette Midler two of my favorites people.

The movie was 2 hours long but so worth it laugh from beginning to end.

We went to a new theatre to use the gift card I can't believe what they charge for movies now a days.

I am use to going on a Tuesday (Special price days 5.00)at a local theatre.

Well this theatre is beautiful and state of the art 13.50 a ticket then popcorn is 6.00 for a small and a soda which is hugh is 4.00

Then we walked all around the outlets some really nice stores.

Well hoping everyone is feeling better

Have a good night/day

Hi everyone;
Well today didn't turn out as I had planned. Troy got up this morning with a hugh swollen red eye, so I figured we had better get it checked. It was slightly red last nite but he said he had gotten shampoo in it and of course the only eye drops I could find in the house were well expired.Cursing! So took him to the medi-clinic but it was closed, then into the pharmacist and she said he had best see a dr. So off to the hospital we went, but we were in and out in less than an hour. Dr. said he has pink eye and needs a special presc. When I picked up the presc., the gal said it wasn't covered because it was over-the-counter.Glare! If she would have told me that when I dropped it off we could have just got it and left instead of making a trip back. Had a hockey game this afternoon, now have to get some stuff ready for school tomorrow as it is our Jolly January week. We take special little things for a person and don't reveal ourselves until the end of the week. Always a fun time.BigGrin BigGrin. DD just called and said her team won second place in their ringette tournament. They were over the moon as it's the first time this team made it to the finals.BigGrin

Sonja: hope you & your ds feel better real soon. Tough cookie managing to play his game today, good for him.

Nancy: glad you were able to find all those gift cards and put them to good use. We usually go to Cheap Tues., here also but of course the gift cards we get are for Cineplex theatres in the city. Expensive there too.

PaperKrafter: nice to see you back on the board again. You're right, us crafters are a great group. Too funny about your bunny, not so good for your bag though. Glad you are able to fix it. You should contact Purina about your bunny, you never know what they will do. I suppose dog & cat food are their biggest sellers though. I'm going to check that video out after I'm done here, sounds great and TFS. Your mini albums sounds interesting also, would like to see one of them.

Well better run and get busy. Take care everyone

Just a quick post before school this am.
Chilly out this morning! Thankfully no wind. Still wouldn't trade it for extreme summer weather!
Sandra UGH! Pink eye. Very yucky indeed, and soo contagious. Good luck with that.
Nancy I would love to come across a stash of gift cards!
Crafter We used to have a rabbit. It chewed through the drywall behind a bed and through a power cord. Never stopped him though, Tough bunny!
Sandra Not much beats turkey soup on a cold winter's day!
Pedal Take care of yourself and your little guy.
Jeanne Thinking of you. By the time you read this it will all be done. As everyone else says the prep is the worst of it!
Take care all

It's been really cold here (well for us anyway). I know a lot of you live in colder regions than I do. We had the coldest night in 20 years last night. My DH is worried about our motorhome. We keep it in Mesquite, NV in the winter so we don't have to winterize it and it gives us somewhere to go occasionally to get away from the snow and cold here. But it looks like it has been really cold down there as well the last few nights.

Nancy - How fun to find a bunch of gift cards and then go use them! Have fun!

Sandra - Hope Troy is on the mend! Pink eye is not fun, hope you don't get it. Have fun with your Jolly January week! Sounds like a lot of fun.

I have been shopping lately for TOO much fabric. I have gone to the fabric stores with my friend and have found cute flannel. i make baby blankets and burp cloths with the baby's name and then they are hemstitched and the edges crocheted. Well this weekend I decided to cut them out to get ready to sew and finish. I got it ALL out and I have 30 sets! I thought I had maybe 10. My daughters (and even my son occasionally) are always asking me for some for gifts for friends and coworkers so they won't last long, but I was amazed at how much I actually had. Good thing I only buy it on sale, and that my husband has no idea!

Have a great day everyone.

Hi. I have kept up with reading all of your posts, but just don't get to my computer much.

The chalkboard paper cuts wonderfully, but is a bit hard to keep the chalk on it. It rubs off just like a real chalkboard! Imagine that. Flapper Anyway, I got some clear spray paint, and if I sprayed very carefully, it would bind the chalk onto the paper. If I used too much spray, it would just wash off the chalk. And any little drag by the blade shows, so I just cut on the back side.

I did get all of my Thank You notes done with the chalkboard paper, and also some Christmas paper that I bought that did not look Christmassy. With Artiste! Thanks, Sharon!!!

DH is feeling good, at last. We walked Jeffie to his favorite place to eat for lunch today - the Costo food court and Coscto dogs! Ugg. I try and eat them as much as I can, but I can only take so many.

Sandra, Megan got several pink eye infections in HS. The meds for them was always so expensive.

Shelly, I think you asked about the cruise. We are going on a two week cruise to Hawaii, so I won't be on the boards much, if at all, from Jan 19 to Feb 2, and then we fly home on Feb 3.

I think we chose the right time to come to Jill's. It is still in the single digits at home, and beautiful, but a tiny cool, here. No complaints from me!

Thanks everyone...yep the prep is the WORSE part for sure!
ThumbDown
I was scheduled for 8am and was out by 9:30am. DH took the day off for me since
I needed someone to drive me home.

The best part...getting breakfast and being able to drink water!! I was so parched after
the 4am prep. I couldn't wait to get something to drink. Took a long nap and just been
playing around on the pc and catching up on some reading today.

DH goes for a knee MRI Weds...he thinks he tore something. He is not in dire pain, but it is bothering him. Hoping it is not a bad tear.

Sandra, sorry to hear about Troy's pink eye. That is what DH had the week we were on vacation! Sad

Hi craftycrafter. We yak about everything - Cricut, crafting, and life! I visited the UK for the very first time last summer. We had an amazing time! I have a husband and three adult daughters, two of which are getting married in the next few months - youngest in March and middle in July.

JeanneLee, I won't be too far behind you. Pun intended after I realiized what I had said!!! LOL Flapper LOL I was 50 in December, and as soon as I can figure out when to take a couple of days off, I will get one. It may be late summer or early fall, though. Too many weddings, and then Jill wants to go camping as soon as Megan's wedding is over.LOL

Hi everyone;
We started out the morning with snow and snowed all day until late afternoon and it turned to rainGlare! It's not supposed to freeze tonite so hopefully the roads won't be bad in the morning. I went with Troy and his staff to get him fitted for his custom brace...all went well, though some of the paperwork has to be redone to make sure it will go through for the governments satisfaction. Here we go againLOL! My Jolly January gift for today was a bunch of the Tassimo brewing cups and of course, I don't have a machineBlushing! So my decision is to buy a machine or give them away! Do any of you have a Tassimo and what are your thoughts on it? The flu bug has hit our school...about 6 staff away today.

Craftycrafter: hi and welcome from Alberta, Canada. I've been married to my dh for almost 39 years and we have 3 grown children...2 dd's both married and a ds who is Down's Syndrome. I also have dabbled in almost every craft that has come along, of course my favorites now are scrapbooking and cardmaking. I also work as an Educational Assistant; grade 4 in the a.m. and grade 9 in the p.m. Look forward to seeing some of your creations and feel free to jump in whenever.

Jeanne: glad everything went well for you today.

Joy: oh you had to mention that cart, now will have to check it outBlushing, though my guys aren't the outdoor type. Glad you got all your thank you notes doen. Glad dh is feeling better. Your cruise is coming up real quick now!

Shelly: sounds like you buy fabric like I buy paper,LOL! Have fun sewing!

Laura: hope you had a good day at school

Take care everyone, bye for now.

Yikes, I had no idea how cold it was out yesterday morning. By 10 am it was -44 (-47 to y'all) with wind chill BRRR. Where my SDS lives it was -62 (-79)!!!Scared I cannot imagine what that was like! He is in Baker Lake, NU. Much nicer today -9 (15)! The weather is just nuts this year.
Sandra We have both tassimo and keurig. I prefer the keurig as the tassimo never seems to work right. The amount for each cup changes time to time. I am sure it is just a glitch in ours though. I even have a keurig mini for my classroom.
Crafty Welcome from Northern Saskatchewan!
Joy I read about the cart, but haven't gone to look at it yet!
Jeanne Glad it is all done. Not good news about your DH ThumbDown
Shelly The buying thing can seem out of control easily. My big thing right ow is flatback embellishments off ebay. I've been going on at about 11pm. That seems to be when the auctions are ending. I have lost count of how many sets I have bought! The last one was 4000 flatback pearls in assorted colours for under $3 - free shipping!
Have a great day everyone!

I can't complain about our temps any more! Those sound awful.

Well glad to know I'm not the only one who goes on buying sprees.

Sandra- I also buy too much paper! But I'm going to try not to this year, well at least a few months. Glad things went well in getting Troy's brace. Hope getting the paperwork straightened out goes easily.

Jeanne - glad its over for your. Now you have five years before you have to do it again.

Craftycrafter - Hi and welcome!!

Joy - when you get back, let me know how the sea days were getting there. we are looking at that cruise, but DH thinks I would get sick on the open sea. I don't think so, but he does because the first cruise we went on, I got really sick one night when we were in a storm close to a hurricane. But that was a 16 years ago and I'm sure the ships have better stabilizers now. Have fun! Love to cruise.

Hello all! Haven't been on here for several days, just been so busy!

Went to a scrapbooking weekend in the Poconos this past weekend & that was a lot of fun! A friend of mine from MD came up for it too, so was great to hang out together.

Now I am back at work, but came home sick today as I had body aches & nausea. Bleuch. We have so much flu & sickness going around our school. Hopefully I will feel better by tomorrow.

Glad the Artiste cricut cartridge is getting some good use! I was using it this past weekend too!

Been so busy with work, exercising (as I have started back at the gym), stuff around the house & PTO events (helping to plan a scrapbook crop) that I am pretty tired!

Sorry to those with the extreme temps! We have had very mild weather the past few days, just drizzly though. But meant to get a snow/sleet/ice/rain mix tonight into tomorrow morning. I wish it would just be rain or pure snow even. Not looking forward to the morning commute with an icy/slushy mess on the roads (if I am feeling better tomorrow)!

Craftycrafter - where in teh UK are you? I grew up in Colchester in Essex. All my family is back over there still. Been over here in the US for almost 20 years now though. I am hoping to visit either this August or Nov/Dec time. Been a while since I went back to the UK, my Mum normally comes to visit this way.

Hello.

Shelly, we did this same cruise last February. We had some rough seas, enough to cancel the show one night for the safety of the dancers, but the crew all said that it was very unusual to have it so rough. We take ginger to help with any nauseau. You can get it in capsule form at WalMart, pretty cheap.

Sharon, I hope you feel better soon!

We found out about 5 p.m. tonight that the friends that we are going on the cruise with are showing up tomorrow, not Thursday! I am so glad they called to check in, or their bed would not be ready for them! We are giving them the room we sleep in with the real bed, and we are moving to the room with a futon.

I got one scarf done, and am a little over half done with the second one. They are cute.

DH and Jill went to Home Depot and I think they are buying a small sink/vanity for Jill's bathroom. She has a pedestal sink that is just too big for the size of the bathroom, NO counter space and NO storage, other than a shelf that she has sitting in the bathroom. But she does have an amazing jetted tub that was in the bathroom when she bought the house. It is great to soak in.

I am not familiar with a Tassimo, but Megan's fiance' got her a Keurig for Christmas. She left it at our house most of Christmas break to share it!

I just went to cricutmachine to look at Outdoor Man again. It is not showing. I am sure they had to pull it off, but having it on there for a bit was great for me. I know I will have it someday.BigGrin

Hi everyone;
We had a lovely day today, I think it hit 7 but with a wind. It helped dry the roads but our back playground has started to turn into a lakeThumbDown! So of course, we have kids coming in soaked. Just got back from coffee with a couple of friends. Have to finish a birthday card for one of them as it's her birthday Thurs., but am meeting up with her again tomorrow.

Joy: I'll have to keep an eye out for that cart. I checked Cricutmachine last nite and couldn't find it either. Sounds like dh is keeping busy with your dd's house. Glad you are enjoying making the scarves.

Sharon: glad your crop went well. Hope you feel better soon.

Shelly: I'm trying to put the brakes on my spending too...we'll see how long it lastsLOL

Laura: boy, you have got some cold weather...hope it doesn't last long

Better run and get the card finished.

Take care everyoneBigGrin

Wow Nancy 13.50 a ticket. That's way too much. I think the last tiem we went tot he theater was this past summer there in the States. It was the 2.00 theater. We don't have the cheap theaters here, so we just get the DVDs when they come out.

Today is cleaning and organizing my scrap stuff. It has gotten out of hand. I'm embarrassed when people come over. SO today's the day. Not really getting rid of anything, just finding new places for it.

It is so cold in my studio so I'm slowing bringing everything downstairs. I'm sure Jamal's not too thrilled about that, but eventually it will warm up up here.

Someone asked about a spaceheater, I have a propane heater up here, but it just dosen't get the room warm. So if I'm up here I have the heater practically right on top of me. My computer is up here so I don't come up for very long.

A freind suggested putting in a wood burning foreplace, so I might check that out. No sense in having the space all the stuff and not being able to use it.

The reason It's so cold up here is it's not insulated, concrete walls and on both side of the walls are open patios so it get cold.

Joy good luck with the sink. A girl needs her bathroom storage.

Sharon hope you feel better.

Debbie glad you're getting better weather.

Jeanne glad your feeling better, I would hate to have a colonoscopy.

Sonya feel beter and get back to biking!

Well, my fingers are freezing so I better go. Talk later.

I took the day off from bowling because I have a Orthopedic doctor appt. for my knee.

Been trying to get on all morning kept coming up with a ErrorMad

Rain and slight snow this morning but not too cold. You glas in Canada the temps seem really really cold!!

Angie... check out the Amish Fireplaces they are heaters and are wonderful.

Years ago the "Tuesday Special" was 5.00 but it is an old theatre and the seats are not very comfortable. We usually wait for it to come on Cable but we did have our gift cards so we went.

These new State of the Art theatres are really nice comfy seats lots of leg room balconies the kids go because they watch the movie in 3D then the tickets are 14.50.

A couple of years ago i took Hannah and Alex to the movies just the 3 of us cost me 50.00 with the soda and popcorn. i don't know how these families afford to go when they have 3 or more kids!!

Hoping everyone who is ill is feeling better

My little Abigail is coming over with her parents tonight we are celebrating here daddy's birthday

Have a good/night all
