I just got my E2 and I can't seem to get the paper off of the mat. Are there any tricks for getting lighter scrapbook paper off of the mat? Everything I cut curls up and when I try to take the paper off to put a new piece on, it stays stuck and comes off much like a price tag does when you try to remove it. Any suggestions? I'm new to using this machine so I'm just curious if I'm missing something or what! I have all of the tools, spatula, etc. Any help would be great!

Welcome!

You may want to clean your mat. Put the mat under running water and rub the mat with your fingers or a sponge and rub the paper bits off and let dry. It will be sticky again once it is dry. Do this whenever the mat gets less sticky.

Then once it's dry, take a clean t-shirt and stick it to the mat and pull off several times to make the mat less sticky. Or you can just use your hands and touch your hands all over the mat several times to make it less sticky too.

Use the spatula to remove paper once you cut it.

Glad you're here, but sorry such a problem brought you!

Most people will recommend the spatula, but I've found that the sticky comes off the mat and permanently adheres to your spatula, which then has to be cleaned with alcohol (rubbing, not drinking!). I use the scraper tool, or the kitchen ware scraper such as what comes with your Pampered Chef stoneware. Hold it almost parallel to your mat and go slowly. Yes, your paper will curl. Run it backwards over a bone folder, or the edge of a table, to reverse the curl. Once you get the hang of it, you'll easily make them flat again.

I also don't recommend using your hands to "unsticky" your new mat as it will leave oils on your mat that can stain your paper. A t-shirt or blue jeans works much better than your hands. The only good part about your hands is you can't lose them, the little suckers hand out at the ends of your armsBigGrin !

I thought maybe I had just picked up a super sticky mat myself!!
I mean this thing is CRAZY sticky!! Even Bazzill has a hard time pulling off!!
And the light weight stuff just peels/tears....frustrating to say the least!
The t-shirt is a great idea...I will give that a go and see what happens!:)
