I am thinking of purchasing some used cartridges but have been told they are linked to the craft room already. Does this make any difference? Will I still be able to link them? Confused Please explain this to me, I'm new at this and still haven't figured everything out. Thanks for your help

You can use linked carts in your Cricut. You cannot link them to your CCR account {or a Gypsy should you get one}. Carts can only be linked to one CCR and/or the same person's gypsy.

You can still use the linked carts in CCR. But you will have to physically insert the cart in your Cricut when prompted by CCR before it will cut.

I just noticed that you said we can link our cartridges to the CCR and the Gypsy (If it's the same person) I have linked most of my cartridges to my Gypsy and just recently started linking the new ones to CCR. How would I go about linking the ones from my Gypsy to the CCR? Just the normal way or what?

You can link to CCR OR Gypsy - but not both.

Once it is linked to Gypsy, it cannot be removed to link to CCR - but PC has assured us (two years ago) they are working on it. Give them a year or 10....

If you link the cart to CCR first {because it is actually linking it to your cricut.com account}, you can also link those carts to your gypsy.

But, it still does not work the other way {if linked to a Gypsy first, it won't link to CCR}.

I'm going to have to try the ones that I've linked to the CCR. Wish I'd known that before I put most of them on the Gypsy since I love to use the CCR because of the size of the screen-so much easier! (especially on these older eyes of mine!) You'd think with all the modern technology that they'd have figured out a way to do it from the Gypsy too. I'd like to be able to use the CCR and the Gypsy at the same time (just for the carts so I don't have to carry all of them with me) but there's only the one USB port. Do you (or anyone else) know if it's safe to use them with a USB hub? Thanks!

So I just figured out that if you've linked the cartridge to the CCR and your Gypsy is linked to your Cricut account, then it's already linked to your Gypsy. So the thing is to link it to the CCR NOT the Gypsy. Wish I'd known this a long time ago! Is this only new to me or did anyone else not know that?

The cartridges that you link to CCR first can be put on your Gypsy. However, you have to run an update on your Gypsy first for them to show up there.

I'm sure there are lots of people that don't know it even though I feel like I {and Narelle and a few others} have been posting to link to CCR first for over a year now. But, lots of Cricut owners never come to the MB so unless they happened to call CS, they wouldn't know.

Out of curiosity, I found this old thread from Jan 2012:

If you link your carts to CCR first, they will also be linked to your Gypsy when you update it. Unfortunately, it doesn't {yet} work the other way if you link to your Gypsy first, you can't link to CCR.

Narelle has tons of tutorials on her blog:

And, there are also great tutorials on the log in screen for CCR.

I didn't either. I've always linked my cartridges to my Gypsy as soon as I've gotten them. HOWEVER, with this latest update to the CCR, the Gypsy, and the Cricut itself, I was now able to link my Gypsy to the CCR and my cartridges are now linked to the CCR!!! Awesome!!!! And, a cutting issue I was having with my E2 was corrected as well and all is working brilliantly.

I couldn't be happier now using the CCR. How cool...... Thank you PC for finally getting this taken care of and getting us access to our carts. Now I feel like I can finally design and use this!!BigGrin
