I was unable to get passed Initializing, so I uninstalled, RESTARTED and downloaded CCR again. I set the settings to Windows 7 since I use Windows 8, and it finally loaded. Yay!

I tried CCR by simply writing something and pressed "CUT". It said I must first update. I followed the steps, restarting the Cricut holding the power button down but the lights don't come on. Just the power button and the 'material saver' keys are lit up. It just won't update.

Has anyone run into this and found a solution? Please share.

Hello, It sounds as though you are not putting it in update mode properly. To do this you must hold down the stop button, then hold down the power button so that you are holding them down together. Hold them until the machine beeps, then release. This should put the machine in the proper update mode. I hope that this helps!
