Hello all. I’m so excited.BigGrin I have played with this for a week now just testing making sure everything worked before I posted. I have found a way to use CCR online only version with your iPad. It actually worked. YAY. After a little getting used to its easy (do I dare say) better than my Gypsy ever thought of being. I love being able to pinch and expand the screen easily with your fingers making easier to see. Plus sit anywhere I want not at the computer.

Ok, I have an iPad 2 so that is the only one I tested this on. You MUST install a flash enabled browser, I used Puffin, that’s the only one I have tried.

I tried to take pictures along the way so hope it helps. Sorry this is such a long postCrying but I stink at explaining things and I have never used flickr before so hope I did things right so pictures can be seen. Scared

Next go to cricut.com and click on craftroom. Scroll to the bottom of the page to FAQ the last question pertains to is there an online only version. Click that question the click where it says here.
IMAG1265 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]
Next you will need to sign in. If you don’t see the keyboard on the bottom right you will see it there. Click that and the keyboard will come up.
IMAG1267 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

Once signed in you will get the accessing account screen
[img]
IMAG1268 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]
Yay… you are now signed in and have all options available.
IMAG1269 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

On the lower left of your screen you will see an icon of a mouse if you click that you will be able to bring up a trackpad that works like a mouse.
IMAG1270 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

Once the trackpad is open it will look like this and you will have a pointer like a mouse
[img]
IMAG1271 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

Now scroll through to find your cartridge as normal. At this point you can just use the trackpad, stylus or your fingers as normal to select your image. You can also select different layers just as you would in the normal CCR.
IMAG1272 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

Once on the screen you can select all images at the same time you need to touch and hold the trackpad and move the box around them with the other hand. The pointer will change to a little hand as seen in the picture.
IMAG1273 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

Once you do that to resize if you need to then you can also use the same method to move individual images on your mat. You can also edit/hide your lines. I found you can just touch the screen or use the trackpad pointer.

Images on different mats lined up
[img]
IMAG1277 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

In the upper left hand corner under file save as normal. Remember if you need the keypad click in the lower right corner to open it.
IMAG1281 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

Remember this is online design only of CCR. You can’t cut from here but you can easily save then open on your normal computer.
IMAG1282 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

You can open other project under my projects.

Edit prior files
[img]
IMAG1289 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

IMAG1290 by ScrappyKats, on Flickr[/img]

That’s all there is to it. Now just go to your normal computer sign in and open files as normal. Your file from your iPad will be there.

I also tried this on my android phone. HTC EVO 4G LTE with the puffin browser. Everything worked the same except the screen was much smaller than my iPad.

Wow! Thanks for all the detail on your post! Great job for doing all the hard leg work on figuring this out. Now to go see if I can follow instructions properly! Thanks again!

Did you use the free version of Puffin? My IPad is the first generation & not a 2 so I think maybe it won't work for me as it still says I need to load the latest version of adobe flash. Crying

Got it working & had fun just playing. LOL

Do you open Puffin first then open ccr or just open ccr. I tried it the othe day but it would not enlarge or move. I opened the browser first. I would love to get mine working.

Thanks

You have to open Puffin first as it is what allows you to use flash on your ipad. I have used CCR on my ipad, it's not the latest version, it's the previous model, but not the original and it works fine. :0)

I have been using Puffin for over a year now to be able to view sites/movies that require flash, it's an awesome app.

Oh, I'm not sure if anyone else reads the online versions of the magazines by northridge publishing (cricut ideas, beads etc) but you can view those as well using Puffin on your Ipad version having to read them on your pc/laptop.

I got it to work on my iPhone, of course it's small.Blushing LOL

BTW there's a direct link to cricut craftroom: craftroom.cricut.com

Just open Puffin and type that in the url line.

When I get home I'm going to try it on my iPad as well.

Thank you for showing the step by step directions for the IPad. I have the Mini IPad and Puffin has not worked for flash for me.

However, I downloaded Photon(paid app) and when you go to any site that uses flash(HSN crafting videos :) ),I touch the lightening bolt at the top right on the browser and EVERYTHING works! WhahooooooBigGrin

So, I can now watch any flash videos and am off to try the CCR example that you have provided. THANK YOUBigGrin

Nifty! Great tutorial!

FYI - did you know it is VERY simple to take a screen shot with your iOS device (iPad, iPhone, etc)

Just hold the MENU button (round button at the bottom middle of screen) and the power button (button at the top edge of device) at the same time, and voila! You have a screenshot! It is usually stored in your camera roll. It will make uploading your tutorials and hints much easier! :)

I have the app for Photobucket installed, so I can upload right to photobucket and then use the IMG Code to paste it here.

Here is what a screen shot from my phone looks like (damn you Candy Crush Saga!)

WOW! This info kind of makes me want a tablet!! Although I am a die-hard Gypsy lover. And most of my cartridges are linked to my Gypsy. So I guess at this point, CCR doesn't do me much good.

It's so nice of you to explain all of this, ScrappyKats! I've never seen anyone explain it before. I have never bought an ipad, but I want to someday. This would be great for designing/creating my cards/layouts in the future, when we're on vacation and/or just anytime you don't want to sit at your computer.

Can I ask....how much memory do you have on your ipad? If you don't have the maximum, do you know what maximum memory you can get on it? Are all ipads made by the same company? AND, maybe memory doesn't have to play into it so much since you're using the WEB version of CCR, right?

Great tutorial/explanation! TFS! Another great thing about your sharing the FLASH download has allowed others with different types of hand-helds to think about how they can do the same thing you've done on their devices.

Char
