Hi Ladies - I LOVE making cards and I know most of you do also....
This time I would like to challenge you to making SHAPED cards !! You may use a Cricut cartridge image that you "double" with your Gypsy,( NOT REQUIRED !!!) or one that is already set up as a card. The shape can be anything you wish from ....Elephants, Coffee pots ! What fun ! I REPEAT A GYPSY IS NOT REQUIRED TO DO THIS !!
In general these are usually set as " All Occasion" or "Friendship" cards.
The cards should be at least 5x7 in size ( I know dimensions will cary some, but make a card that will use a 5x7 or 6x9 envelope. Please use GOOD STURDY cardstock for a base.
You only have to make 2 cards - so add lots of great details and Cricut cuts and embossing and whatever you can think of ! Please be sure to send an envelope for your partner too.
This swap will be DESIGNER's CHOICE - but, it is nice if you will get to know your partner and design a card that will be something she will love. The best way to do this besides chatting on the thread and in PM's is to read her Master Questionnaire.
If you do not have a Master Questionnaire - PLEASE go there and fill one out right away ! It is great fun to have.

You will mail your cards with a matching envelope please, directly to your partner. You must post a Tracking number on the thread and for safety - please take a photo of your cards before you send them.

NEW MEMBERS - If you have never been in any of my swaps, or if you have recently MOVED - please send me your contact info (name, addy & email) in a PM.

There are No THEMES assigned here...You will make cards with your partner preferences in mind.

I will close the sign-ups when we have 10 members or by April 19th , and assign partners the next day after closing enrollment.

You will then have until May 24th to mail out your cards.

NO FLAKERS PLEASE !!

Hi Laura - There are dozens of ways to make a shaped card without a GYPSY. Many people do not own one. Many cartridges already have shaped cards on them...
You can also cut out a large shape and adhere it to cardstock and then cut around it with scissors !!! A GYPSY IS NOT REQUIRED !!

Hi CricutCrazy,

I would love to join. If you don't have a Gypsy, you can use DS or CCR, it doesn't cost anything for the CCR, I use it all of the time, just download it to your computer. Hope this helps! It will be a first for shaped cards for me, should be interesting!

I have a lot of projects that I've made downloaded in the project center, just to give an idea of some of my crafting styles.

Thanks,
Smile Maria

Welcome EvelynR ( I knew you wouldn't let me down ! ) Love

Welcome Maria - please PM me your contact info ASAP. I need this to be able to partner you up !

We sure need a few more Card Makers who want a little challenge ! You do NOT have to meld with a GYpsy - as Maria pointed out, you can use CCR, Design Studio, or even your own clever handicrafter's talent !

I'd love to do this if you can find me a partner that likes slightly smaller cards.....I prefer cards that fit in an invitation size envelope (4.75 inches by 6.5 inches)...generally, a 4 X 6 card...know it's not much difference, and I hope I'm not being a pest. ;) Well, I know I am, but if there is another pest out there, I'd love to meet you. Lots of shaped cards on my blog. I love to make these. Any one willing to put up with my quirkiness?

LOL I have blank white cards that I buy by the bulk and they are 6.5 x 5 with matching envelopes, will that work? I don't mind going smaller, if it's acceptable!! I've made many cards, but believe it or not, I have never made a shaped card, should be interesting!!!! I only have a few grey hairs, but by the time I'm done, I'll probably have a full set of grey hair.LaughLaugh

Hello Everyone - Well, I really wanted the 5x7 cards for this swap, as I didn't wish to offend the hostess who has the A2 card monthly swap going on. I suppose the important thing is that they are shaped cards. Just be sure that it is okay with your partner. I will try to pair up people who want certain sizes, but it makes it more difficult for me to do the partners sometimes..

As far as using pre-cut cards - I had in mind that you would cut out a card shape on your Cricut machine. I would think that would be difficult to do using a pre-cut blank card. But, if you can figure out a way to do it then I guess I cant object. I just do not want the card to be rectangular, square, or just round. It needs to be the silhouette of an object - like a tree or an elephant or something....

Welcome to all...I will try to be accomodating. I just want the swaps to be fun and stress free for everyone (including ME Flapper ) Plus this one requires little postage !

KM - I can always count on your loyalty ! Love

BTT for more members !! LAURAA - We are waiting for you to get BRAVE dear !! LOL

I can do either large or small so partner me up with whoever you need to Barbara. As far as shaped cards go, you won't be getting any gray hairs--they are PURE FUN! Sheila at She's a Sassy Lady has excellent tutorials for shaped cards--that's where I learned. And even if you don't have a Gypsy or use CCR, you can do it by just cutting two of the same shape, scoring the one for the back of the card at the top, and applying some redline tape. Then stick the front of the card to the back--presto! Shaped card with no stress.

CricutCrazy,
As far as using pre-cut cards - I had in mind that you would cut out a card shape on your Cricut machine. I would think that would be difficult to do using a pre-cut blank card.

You're right, it would be more difficult. Sorry for the confusion, but what I was just trying to say is that I have a ton of envelopes that would fit that size because I buy them and the cards in bulk, I really should read my posts more carefully before I post them, lol.

Hello Williase !! Yes I will accept a "newbie" - just send me your contact info and please be sure to read the instructions carefully. We all had to begin somewhere - you are welcome ! Love

Maria - I think those envelopes will be fine as long as your partner agrees. The idea is really to please your swap partner. I usually buy envelopes and blank cards when there is a good sale at M's or J's and you can get 50 sets for $3 -$5 a pack....and I stock several sizes to cover all my possible needs. Personally I think it is tedious to make envelopes ! Flapper But I do many times stamp them or run them through my Cuttlebug and emboss a design on them.

BTT for more members !!

JCI -- I was looking on youtube and wowsers there were some really great ideas floating around. It was fun watching them and then trying to come up with my own idea. So, still thinking but at least I know where I am headed with it. This will be so much fun. I love making cards anyway.

Thanks for noticing my avatar ladies! That little guy was just something I picked up off the web.

I take good pictures... but not that good!

It's a good thing that I'm joining this swap - I'm trying despirately to get my mojo back and turn on my machine instead of hoarding carts!

Good evening ladies - I will take a moment off from watching my guy #24 JEFF GORDON as he is leading the race in Texas...to say hello !!

Evelyn, YouTUbe will get you hooked honey, be careful - once you start watching those videos it is hard to stop !
KM - Once you get your partners set up, make a certain time to JCI on all your swaps and be done with it....unless you have a pressing issue going on...I only require once per week, although I love getting to be able to razz you on here as much as possible !Flapper Razz Wub
Williase - so happy to have you on board... relax and have fun -

I am thinking that I would like to read my partner's MQ and get an idea from there of something that she would truly love to have (like if she is a gardener, make a big watering-can card )

Looks like we are closing in on getting all the members we need very soon ! ThumpUp
