Wondering for those who had the 5 free cartridges from their gypsy..did they work for you. Thinking of the TBBM and Smiley Cartridge...just wondering if they linked. Not seeing it linked on mine.

Well, this is interesting. I've never used CCR. I love my Gypsy. Can you buy digital carts through CCR? If so would that mean I can then put it on my Gypsy to play with if I can't be on the computer at the time?

Extremely Annoyed there is NO plan for a new gypsy!!!!!!!

Many people have no access to Internet or computer to design or cut! WHO has Internet access when at a crop or LSS?!?!?!!!!

THANK YOU!!! You just made my day!! BigGrin Just got up and came to see if there was any news and BINGO!! All updated and synced, so happy, CCR rocks and I love it but it was a hassle having to export cut files, then import on to gypsy and then cut because I have a very small craft space so couldn't keep my carts out. I now have all my carts to play with and also Southwest and Pagoda(I couldn't get this on my gypsy even after a call to customer services) are now on my gypsy Love

Sad to hear you won't be continuing the gypsy, it's a great little piece of kit, but can understand that technology moves on and hopefully there will be something to replace it for those of us who like to travel and craft Smile

I take it the $20 is for US customers only, I did get an email but it's not there when I go to the checkout, but to be honest, I'm so happy with the linking I don't care LOL

What great news - thanks to all at PC for sorting this (and for the credit). Even better news (for me) I though my Gypsy was dead but when I plugged it in today - it worked!!! No idea why my last attempts failed but I was VERY happy to see the screen come alive.

Updated my Gypsy (that took a while as I hadn't updated it in about 2 years) and then linked it to CCR (that took less than a minute) and now all my cartridges are available on my Gypsy and in the Craft Room. Hurrah!!

All updated & carts linked! Took my Imagine update a little while, but when I got up this morning it was all updated & then I got the linking all done!

Thanks PC for this fix, but wish that you would consider either making another Gypsy like a tablet or making more of the current model. I go to a couple of crops a year that do not have internet access & scrap once a month with the girls at church & don't have internet there either. The Gypsy is the perfect tool for those situations!

I had hoped that with the morning light my Gypsy problem would have been resolved. Nope!

Still says registered to another user.

I hope I will love PC again, sometime today but for now I am still just not happy!

Did you buy it new or used? If it was a used Gypsy, the original owner registered it.

I did not get the email, but after keeping up with the forum all day I saw this. I was able to update with no problem once I unplugged my embroidery transfer box. After that it was smooth sailing!! I also tried quite a few cutes from different cartridges on the same page, as well as welding from different cartridges and got perfect cuts. I also checked my account and there is the credit.
I have to say, it was worth the wait.BigGrin
Thanks so much.

Well all the updates and linking worked perfectly for me! Sadly I lost the free cartridges that were on my Gypsy ie: Smiley cartridge and TBBM. I really hope there is a way to recover them because I really loved those two.

I received the email last night, imagine my surprise!!!BigGrin I just started using CCR about a month ago. I was disappointed that I couldn't link any of my cartridges that were already linked to my Gypsy. Thank you, thank you... you just made life so much easier. Seems like no one had a problem with doing so. Off to make this happen!Woot Woot

Thank you for making this happen. I personally have not linked any of my carts to my G or to CCR, because I wanted to have the ability to sell my carts if I decided I did not want them at some point. However, I know many of my Cricut sisters who have most, if not all, their carts linked to their G's. I am so happy for them that this fix has finally happened! Plus, the $20 gift for all us Gypsy owners was so unexpected and very kind. I have to admit to already using mine...lol. There were a couple digital collections I have been wanting, so off to order them I went. My $20 was there at check out. Thank you PC. GG

I am very disappointed that they will no longer make the Gypsy--it's all I ever use, especially since I have trouble with CCR because of Windows 8.

Guess I will try to link my carts to it, but don't want to loose those free ones.

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED with the cancellation of the Gypsy. This was the best thing in the marketplace and it had no competion! I will use my Gypsy and am thankful there is an option to repair it. The good new is my Gypsy can be linked to CCR and I will do that because if it does go down at least I will have use of all my carts. I am happy for all the CCR users out there but am totally disappointed that PC is discontinuing the GYPSY! I disagree and think this is a BAD BUSINESS DECISION!

If you are getting the error "Set Instance Unavailable"

I Just got off the phone with PC. If you are getting this message, they do not know why your Gypsy is not linking and are working on the problem. They will let us know when they have a fix. EEEEERRRRRR!!!! They do not know how long before this problem will be fixed.

I 1,000,000% agree!

If I wanted to be tethered to a computer I wouldn't have got a cricut!

I do all if my creating on the GO! I have never been to a crop where there was Internet access & I don't have a laptop to lug to a crop along with my cricut ( nor would I lug all that with me).

Very VERY short-sighted! You had the only product on the market that was portable & you are dumping it to compete with an already full market of computer dependent products. Dumb dumb dumb!

excerpt from Nathans original message:

"While we are dedicated to providing ongoing support and repair options for the Cricut Gypsy™ device, we have made the decision to stop production on the current Cricut Gypsy™ model."

Maybe "current" is the key word here? PC surely is aware of how popular this device is. And they would be aware that the competition doesn't have anything like it. The competitors machines tethers you to a computer - no way around it. So, maybe, just maybe, PC has some plans for a new Gypsy style device. That would be worth the wait!

How do I get the $20 credit? I didn't get an email about it. My cricuts are registered and I believe the second Gypsy was registered too....I know the first one was. Thanks everyone for the posts of help last night. My Gypsy was one that had the security breach message....pretty scary! I got it reformatted and updated and can't wait for naptime so I can try it out!

Hi Ken-
This is new and a normal part of the update for our MAC users. It may run through 4 attempts and then start over, but it should complete for you. If it did not please call customer support and we will be happy to assist you.

In the FAQ it says that there are no plans on making a new gypsy device.
