This may sound a little stupid. But since I never intend to use CCR, why should I link to it? I love my G, really love it. I am not a huge fan of the internet, oh I use it. Do craft search's, but if I have to take my laptop into my craft room every time I want to cut something out, well I'd just loose what little mind I have.
So if you can tell me why it is necessary for someone with my mind set,to do this anyway, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am with you on this. I dont have a lap top and I am not going to bring a computer with me when I go to scrapbook retreats or to my camp where I get most of my lo's done.

It's a personal choice. I love my gypsy and take it everywhere. I don't intend to link my carts to the CCR either.

You don't need to but you may want to to have your Gypsy linked cartridges in the CCR account in case anything ever happens to your Gypsy that can't be fixed. Also they are not making them anymore so you may not be able to replace it, if needed. You would still have the carts that come with your Gypsy loaded in CCR if you ever change your mind and decide to start using CCR. I use both.

I'm with you. I don't intend to use CCR, I don't have room for my Expression by my computer. However, I did link them. to CCR. I had to send my Gypsy in once to be repaired and another time to be replaced. Each time when I got it, I had to load all of my cartridges again on my Gypsy. Should that happen again, you would just need to Sync your Gypsy and your carts would be there. Actually, I am one of those that had to Restore and Reformat my Gypsy after this last sync. I then lost all of my carts. Since it had successfully linked my carts to CCR, I didn't manually have to do them all again!

I downloaded CCR for the first time today and linked my G. I love my G and with what I have heard about CCR, I haven't been interested in using it. But having my G linked to CCR is my backup plan, in case my G ever dies. But, if my G died, CCR would be a better alternative than using my E all by itself. It's kind of a comfort to know that I do have this backup. HTH!

Love my G, use it all the time. But I like the idea of having my carts
backed up in case I need to reload them. Also when I purchased digital images
they downloaded to my G when I synced. So now I can use them on my G!

When I did the format and restore, I didn't have to relink my carts to my G. They were all there and in CCR. Huh

Thanks to all your replies. I guess I'll just have to contemplate this for awhile.

I would think that syncing your gypsy with CCR would also eliminate the problem of having to send the old gypsy and a new gypsy into PC if the original dies. Even if you never cut with CCR you would have the backup and could then sync a 2nd gypsy, be it one that you already have or one you buy from someone else. For that reason alone I would do the sync.

You should never have to use something you don't feel comfortable with. I love my G, and I'm going to have it repaired. I worry that I will lose stuff, so I linked to CCR. I've learned CCR over time and I enjoy it. But again, you shouldn't have to use something. I agree with those that said that they linked in the event our Gs break and there are none to buy. CCR would be like a record of all you have.

Ditto what everyone else has said. I love my Gypsy and don't know how I would use my E2 without it! But I will probably link it to CCR as a backup. However, I am going to wait until people are not having an issue with losing some of the free carts they have on their G's!

Plus if your Gypsy breaks and you don't have it to sync with CCR you probably wont get your carts linked. If you try to link them without the Gypsy your computer will tell you they have already been linked and wont do it.
