I know this is a simple process but I am having trouble with welding letters. I have both opened a text box and individually tried to weld letters but once letters touch they "gray" out and only the spacing in between the letters (which remain the true layer color) cut out and the letters do not. If I space letters back out to when they have turned back to the layer color, they are not welded. I see on the tutorials that the black outline disappears when welded but the layer color remains. What am I doing wrong? Your help is much appreciated! Thank you!

I have the same problem. Scrapalette has a tutorial, but I am not sure where to find it. I still haven't been able to make it work for me.

Try moving the letters a little closer together. If that doesn't work ungroup them (if you used a text box) using the ungroup button on the toolbar and try moving some of the letters up or down slightly. It's all to do with how far the letters are overlapping and where. The problem seems to happen more with some carts than others.
