I have been using my Cricut Expression for a couple years. Just recently the cutter stopped cutting and will not reach the paper. Application of a slight amount of pressure on the cutter makes it cut. Since the inside mechanism is a coil, it is probably worn out. Cricut does not and will not fix the machine and expects me to buy another machine. This is unfortunate since I have a HUGE project I am presenting to a group of 150 doctoral students at a meeting we are having at the end of this month. Many people were looking forward to the great things that Cricut can do and now I will show up empty handed because I can't shell out another $200+ for a new machine.

I am very disappointed that this company expects consumers to buy new machines when one thing goes wrong.

I cannot buy one in a store because they are all Expression 2 machines and my cartridges (40+ of them) are Expression cartridges. I cannot get one online since the quickest anyone can get a new one to me (If I could pay that amount)is by the 21st. I had expected more from Cricut than this and am very disappointed and dismayed at the level of service from a company I thought I could trust.

Try e-bay! I got a used one for $80 on there! Have you thought about a Mini? I think they are less than $100!

Cartridges are the same for both machines. Only cartridges for the Imagine (which is no longer being produced) are different.

Thank you Bugsy. When I asked customer support, they said it they didn't. That is helpful but still leaves me having to buy a new machine for a simple fix.

Do you have a local scrapbooking store that allows customers to use their Cricut machines? My LSS has cartridges and a machine you can use at crops. Since your project is so large, you may offer to pay something to use it. - just an idea....

Bad business, IMHO...short sighted for a long-time customer. I can't imagine the PC management making such a poor decision.Glare

There are some Cricut repair "hacks." Here's a Youtube on how to fix an expression that only scores and does not cut. You can search for your problem and may find a solution.

There are some people that do cricut repairs, but it might cost you more to repair it then to buy a used one from ebay.

So is your machine still under warranty? If so they should help you out, if not, its like when my TV stopped having sound, well it was off warranty by then had it maybe 5 years, wasnt worth getting it fixed would cost more to fix it then to buy a new one. So i couldnt get upset with the company because they wouldnt fix it for me, i went out and got another one. Sounds like you are really getting alot of use out of machine if its worn out a coil, i dont know that any of these machines are able to handle but so much.
