That's why he took it to the scrapyard $$$$$$$$$LOL

I see that he did keep a few old pumps that have gauges on top. Dials, gears, etc.Cool
I saw one and told him I could use that stuff so maybe he kept them just for me. I probably have to take them apart myselfBlushing

Fall is good.Smile Nothing comes to mind just yet other than a technique that I'd like to try. Think I'll hit a few yard sales this weekend and look for treasure. Maybe that will get my mind going.

So let's do something a little different this round. In previous rounds I have done a QOD - question of the day- to keep the conversation moving. I would like to do a tip of the day on this thread. Any one at any time (even if someone else has posted that day) can post info on a tip, trick, technique, tool, product, etc. This way we can help each other grow as well as let's face it - enable each other. LOL LOL LOL

here is a grunge/steampunk tip of the day:

Punchinella - it is the waste after they punch out confetti. Comes in about a three inch wide strip. Super cheap - 3 yds for 1.20 or 50 yd spool for $15.00. My recommendation is to get a metallic (can be used as a template that way)

http://www.skybluepink.com/punchinella.html

Punchella can be used as

a template for sprays, modeling paste, gesso, paints, inks, crayons, gelatos, stains, etc. The metallic doesn't seep in the inks so you get a clean image.

a base for texture in several techniques either by covering with foil or paint.

used as an embellishment - i have used it in layering on artwork such as my paint brushes, cards and other items.

I have been able to stain it to give it different effects with heidi swapp or lindy's stamp gang sprays

I used punchinella also to create the texture on the spine on my book of secrets that I posted on my blog. I just put on a thick layer of molding paste. I put on a piece of punchinella over the top, pressed down slightly, then tapped over the holes with my finger to create little peaks. Then I pulled off the punchinella while still wet.

You sent us to a website with PINKin the name. Isn't that like against the law in your land???

I was wondering if for the Recycled Group, we could have everyone post a before and after pic, after their partner receives their item so we can all see what kinds of items were recycled and how/what they did?

It was the only place where I could find punchinella and it was cheap. Bought a few other things from there before, super cheap on some things.

Theme: Vintage, steampunk, grunge, birds, nature, Paris, old Hollywood, Halloween, or anything you have on hand that you want to use up. I'm not very picky, but would prefer something smaller.
Colors: Anything but pastels or super girly, touches are OK though.

I have two tubs - big big big tubs (the kind for the garage) filled with thrift store finds. I know what I am going to make....but then I stubbed my toe on something going into the closet this morning.....hmmmm is it trying to tell me something? LOL. I found this wall hanging unit it is about 2 ft high about 2 1/2 feed wide and 3 or so inches deep. It is a sewing cabinet. It has a door that opens in the middle (nothing inside), then on each side it has shelves with dowels to hold thread. Half of the dowels are missing. Oh did I mention the thing was PINK with oh yes....cute little bunnies and flowers on the front (blech Huh ) Not loving it at all. Hower it would be super cool altered. Take out all the dowels. Paint the sucker and steampunk/grunge it. The shelves could hold paints/stains and then inside could have hooks put inside to hold tools or more shelves to hold more paints. BigGrin I have had that sucker for a while and still haven't done it. I think we will have to have more rounds of this swap just so we can use up some things we have around the houseBigGrin

I bought some tubes of Texture Magic Dimensional Paint a couple years ago and it has been hanging around my craft room collecting dust. I paid like $1 for a tube of it at Job Lot. You can buy it at the craft stores.
So the other day I decided to try it on some die cuts and see what I could do with it.
First I took and glued 4 layers of the TH reindeer together for more dimension.

It doesn't matter what color Texture magic you use because you paint over it anyway. Once it was completely dry I painted it with Expresso brown paint. Once that dried, I spread a little bronze distress ink over it with my finger. Then I rubbed some of it off leaving just highlights.

This is probably not new to some of you, but it was to meBlushing

Let me see if I can post a picture using Photobucket.

It is a sitting display that I have on top of a curio cabinet. I have mini frames, candle sticks and a 8 x 10 Word Art picture usually there. It would be great to have something different and unique. It doesn't have to be "real" nature, it could be an artistic impression of nature as well.
