That punchinella looks cool. HMMMMM, I wonder if I can make something similar with my cricut?

Your reindeer is awesome Jean!Love

I need to go through my vast piles of ebay-in-waiting and see what I can make for Sandy.
Seems my father's hoarding WAS good for something! I have "treasures" up the wazoo over here!
I know I haven't fallen too far from the tree either.....scary! First step is admitting to the problemLOL

Have a good day!

I sent you a PM, couldn't download pic. This is just an idea of the colors I had in mind, thought they worked well together, mostly blacks and tans with some pink, nothing overwhelming. BigGrin

tip of the day....

making your own texture medium on the cheap.....mix sand with either acrylic paint or gesso. add more sand to make a coarser texture. dry and paint over..... if you use burnt umber to paint over then dry brush on burnt sienna to hit the peaks of your texture...you get a beautiful rusted look.BigGrin

tip of the day:

Gesso....one amazing medium

primer on canvases
used to give tooth to apply paint on slick surfaces i.e. coated surfaces, metal, etc.
to cover up previous patterns.....i.e. recovering a previously paintedcanvas
tone down prints -you can do a thin coat, watered down coat, or light smears
alter embelishments (great for making shabby chic)
blend background colors and to change values
for highlights and accents
you can spritz with sprays to make different colors
you can use it for texture
plus tons of others

Tip of the day: The Hardware store is your friend.....

You can get get quite a bit of things to use in your crafting from the hardware store and save a FORTUNE.

Love the little Tim Holtz metal sheets - I think they are $5 for 6 4.25 x 5.5" inches. However, that adds up. You can achieve the same effects with metal HVAC tape. It comes in a huge roll for around $3.50. (found mine at Walmart)

****you can use it just like the metal sheets. if you want to make a larger sheet. You can take ugly paper and apply strips across it so that it makes one solid sheet. If you emboss it or create texture, you cannot see the seams.

Dry Wall tape. It is a self adhesive mesh and it pulls up easily as well. It was sold in craft stores at one time as magic mesh. This is great for texture. I love it wihen working with metal and/or grunge.

Gears, Washers, handles, knobs, hinges, finials, etc can all be found at a fraction of the price.

Metal - metal is scorching hot now. It is versatile and can be used in all kinds of mixed media....I am sure you have seen chicken wire in tons of mixed projects lately. You can pick up smaller rolls of this for super cheap and it will last you a long time.

If the items are not the colors you are looking for you can use alcohol inks, rub and buff, etc to change the appearance.
