Anyone else have issues with CCR and Windows 8? I used to use CCR frequently, but since getting my new laptop with Windows 8, I have been having issues. It seems CCR and windows 8 do not play well together. It freezes up something awful, things that I have done hide contour on partially cut, sometimes something I'm trying to move just disappears altogether, and frequently my layers do not cut proportionately. It's very frustrating! It takes me 3 times longer than it should to do anything! Just wondering if it's just me, or if anyone else has this issue with CCR and a windows 8 operating system? I Can't go back to my old laptop because the screen randomly turns black while using it.

I haven't had any troubles with Windows 8 but some users need to run CCR in Windows 7 compatibilty mode. That might be worth a try if you're not already doing it.

I started having problems with windows 8 and CCR. The program runs but won't cut. A driver fails. Even in windows 7 mode. Calling Cricut tomorrow.

Glad it's not just me. I need to call them too, but the only day I have available is on Friday afternoons. I hope they can clear this issue up.

Hi!
Nancyh, your PM box is full, so I couldn't answer your PM. So I'll answer here.

Hi!
PC was very helpful, most of wednesday was spent on the phone with them.

They could not help me. Their suggestion is to get a new Expression, which I can't afford to do at this time.

My Expression is very old, and it no longer communicates with windows 8 or my son's laptop which is running windows 7. It can't handle the drivers and something to do with the serial USB stuff.

It does work with my Gypsy and all the cartridges I have, so I'll just work with what I have.

My Cricut Cake which is the expression sized one, doesn't work with CCR either. They figure it's the age of the machines. Both machines have the current firmware, so that's all that can be done.

Oh well, I didn't think to post because we were gone yesterday.

Needless to say I won't be buying any digital cartridges, and probably no more cartridges either. I'm not spending money on something that has hit it's end date. I have almost 200 cartridges, so I've got plenty to play with. I'll just save up until next Spring for another machine.

Ladybugstamper,

Thanks so much for replying! I had no idea my inbox was full LOL! Looks like I am out of luck in working with CCR with my expression.Glare I have a g too, but that won't work with my E either because I did not do updates with it. I had an E2 and I didn't like it much so I sold it. Looks like I should've hung on to it to use it with CCR. Glare I do have a mini, so I guess I'll have to use that if I want to use CCR. Very frustrating as CCR is supposed to work with ALL cricut machines.

Edited to add:

The more I think about it, the more that what they told you makes no sense whatsoever. I don't think it has anything to do with your E. My E has worked just fine with CCR UNTIL I got a new laptop with windows 8. I do my designing on my laptop while I am sitting on the couch in my living room. My machine isn't even hooked up at that point and CCR is freezing up, images disappear from the mat, and it's all glitchy. Can't have anything to do with the machine since it's not hooked up. It has to do with windows 8 and CCR.
