I hate change. I think I am OCD about things matching so I don't like the new box. BUT I get the idea and think that it will work once we get used to it. The overlays are difficult to see and manage so this is a smart solution. I don't always get the booklets out so that would have to change for me. Hummmm... On the fence here, I guess!

As long as new handbooks FIT into my storage system (I have 200 carts), then I don't care about the rest of it....and if they don't I'll be mighty PO'd!

After looking at the new box here is my thought on it. From the title and the images shown this looks as though it is meant for vinyl. Maybe their is a roll of vinyl inside the box that is why it is an odd shape box. I am thinking along the lines of how you get stamps with a CTMH order. Yes I know those are separate but thinking along the same idea.

In regards to the universal overlay. I like the theory but who knows if it will play out. PC has been known for great theories.

I don't like the universal overlay. I use my Imagine a lot, have a gypsy, and DS but I still want overlays for my Expression. I need to see the image when I use my Expression because there isn't a digi interface. It just feels like it is just one more thing that is being taken away from those of us who like to use Cricut as a stand alone. boo.

I like having an overlay with each cart. I think its OK for an option, wish they still came with them though- for me it helps to see what is there. If its so cheap to sell ($2.99) then why don;y they come with it? But I'm sure you should have more than one to keep a spare one and a clean or not worn out one, If you use it for all carts I do think it would show wear and tear. BJR.Unsure

The universal overlay is made to use with the handbook and a Cricut. It's useless with CCR or a Gypsy because you use the keypads within those design programs and not the keypad on the Cricut. So I don't understand why you think they are taking something away from those that want to use the Cricut as a standalone.

I will have to think this over, buy my initial response is: I like my overlays. I have a few of my carts numbered, but most of them I use the picture and do fine.

I don't use the boxes any more. I have my own system for storage. But I always liked those old cardboard magnetic boxes! Never cared for the plastic ones.

Don't do CCR. Not interested in an internet/computer based cutting system.

Yes, PC is actually a business, they are in it for a profit. It may be a business for your hobby but they did not start this company as a hobby, they actaully have to pay rent, salaries and benefits, insurance and so much more. They have lowered the cost of the cartridges, they started out at $89. So I am happy with anyway they can cut corners. Most people do not use the overlays. I have had mine stored in a box for years. You're lucky they made a Universal one.

If a business didn't change as the world keeps changing it would not be in business long. You may stop buying the products because you don't like a companies changes but that will not stop them from changing to better the company and there are so many new people buying cricuts it will not bother them.

A business can NOT make everyone happy with changes because everyone is different and we all have our own opinion.

I think a universal overlay would be great. Hopefully, it will make finding the correct button easier. I believe if you take care of things the overlays should last for quite a time. You may at some point in the distant future need to buy another one, but hey, who knows what will be the new "fashion" for lack of another word by that time.

Great idea in my opinion. In these changing times we need to try to be accepting of changes that come our way and be grateful for something.

My first problem is that I just redid my scrap book room complete with shelves for all 370 carts. Now a different box size!!! Even a small change in size means they wont fit. I use an E 2 so I dont need an overlay. And lastly dont we have a cartridge called Home Decor. Is this a different one?

As I live in the UK, could I ask if these universal overlays will be available to us and whether the prices will be reasonable?

I get so frustrated and disappointed that the Cricut merchandise is either unavailable, only available in limited ranges from Ebay UK or Amazon UK or through sky high shipping costs that make you think twice before buying anything.

I have the one Called Home Decor Solutions, it didn't come in a box, just the ovelay, cart and trifold sheet. And there is only 50 images on it (only 10 are words). This one is called Home Decor Vinyl Wall Art and mostly has words/verses on it.

I kind of thought it was nice that the numbering system on the new Universal Overlay matches the numbering system we have been using on our website for the past 2 years. . . .
