Well, DH and I have been up since 2 am with our sweet Carly. She is passing so much blood in her stool that there isn't any stool with it, just blood.. and every 15 -30 minutes, at that. We went to the puppy emergency room at 4 am, and they wanted $300 to do a CBC, and she just had one last Wednesday, all perfect. So they gave her an antibiotic shot with some B-12 and some pills...

We got home at 5:15 and she passed blood eight more times before our regular vet opened at 7:30, and I was there with her when the doors opened. They at least did a Parvo test (negative, thank heavens!!!) and parasite screen and can't find anything wrong with her.

She is lethargic and hasn't eaten anything since Tuesday. She is not drinking like she usually does, and I am so worried about her!! We lost our Princess in February after 16 years, and only had Bonnie for three weeks! I don't think my heart can bear it if we lose Carly, too..Crying Crying Crying

Please spare a minute to give my baby a virtual hug and send some good wishes.

Thank you so much!!!

Wow! So sorry to hear about your fur babyCrying .
Do the Vet's have any ideas about what's going on with her?
I wish we could use our health insurance for our pets! Seems like the pet insurance doesn't cover all that goes wrong with our pets(my guy needed two knee operations becasue of tears and since he has the hip dysplasia they wouldn't be covered>).
Hope your pup is doing better.

I am so sorry to hear your furbaby is sick. I will keep her in my prayers and sending gentle cyber hugs and kisses her way. Good luck. I had a baby dog that did that and took him to the vet where he had intestional problems. he spent 2 nights in the animal hospital on and IV meds and I got to bring him home. They even had visiting hours. I went to visit him and took photos of him. He was diagnosed with hemoragic gastroentitis. Was put on meds and had to feed him special food for a week and then slowly switch back to his regular food. It was a very scary time.

Here's a photo of the layout I made of his sickness...

I'm actually surprised they didn't tell you to feed her some of the special canned rice most vet offices/animal hospitals have. The meds I had to give him was clavanmox, metoclopramide (for the vomiting he was also doing) and (human) pepcid. Keep us updated on her :)

The puppy emergency room did give us prescription dog food, and our vet said she might need to be on that for life. Scared

The bloody poops have slowed down (every 15 minutes at midday!!! poor baby!!), and she has started drinking again. I had to do my patient visit this afternoon, and she didn't move the whole time I was gone...Crying Crying but when I came in she tried to wag her tail and rolled on her back to get her tummy rubbed!! That is always what she does when I let her out of her crate after I've been gone!!

She had a few bites of the rx dog food, but doesn't want to eat much. Now I have to figure out how to get her to swallow her pills!!! Hopefully, peanut butter will do the trick.

Thank you so much for all your good wishes!! It means more than you can know!! Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!

Good news, good news!!!

Carly got up very late with me this morning...

Had a little breakfast (prescription dog food mixed with a little rice...

and did a little poop!!!!Love ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

(can't believe I'm posting about my dog's bathroom habitsOhMyGod Blushing ) but it was touch and go there for a while.

It wasn't a "normal" poop, but something that wasn't blood came out, and she wasn't straining. I think the worst is over.

Thank you all for your prayers, I am sure that they helped. I sincerely believe that God cares about allour children.

I'm so glad to hear she's doing better, and I hope she continues doing better! Have they tested for colitis? My best friend's elderly dog developed that a couple of years ago and had a lot of poop issues. She's on a special diet. We've recently discovered ours has food allergies and we're working toward finding a food that fits with him! I hope the new food helps Carly!

This is wonderful news. I'm still praying for her (and you) that she gets stronger every day.

Best, Mary R.

I am so glad to hear your furbaby is doing better. My daughter is a vet tech and I worked at the vets with her. I hated it when dogs came in really sick and you would feel so helpless.

I have a little guy of my own and would be devastated if anything was wrong with him.Crying I hope she is on the road to recovery and my thoughts are with you.

I hope your Carly continues to do well. I have had a sick furbaby where I fed her by hand and would just beg her to eat. She has since passed but she did live a long life and her and I had a very special bond...in fact she is my avatar.

I will pray that your Carly continues to improve every day! Good luck!
