Very adorable! TFS!

I just had my first successful cuts of frosting sheets with the Cricut Cake, but they were fairly basic shapes. I'm trying to work up to intricate scripts and scrolls. I wasted quite a few sheets on the first try, so I'm working up my nerve Blushing

Can the cake machine be used only with purchased sugar sheets or can I use homemade fondant? No really sure if this would be worth the purchase if you have to use sugar sheets.
