Hello, first off I need to say I am TOTALLY new to this cricut machine and die cutting.

NO clue where to start - but I know I need a machine that prints and cuts at the same time.

My plan is to make photo booth props - where they are printed and cut to shape.

I looked over the site and it seems to talk about the Cricut Imagine machine - but when I look at products, I only see cartridges for it - not an actual machine available.

If I look at the Expressions 2 machine, it says it can use imagine cartridges?
Does that mean the Expressions 2 will print and cut at the same time?

Is the machine they refer to as the Imagine no longer available?

I need someone thats knows these machines to help steer me in the right direction :-)

Also - ideally I would like to be able to use my own vector art to load for it to print and cut. SO if there is additional software for that, I would need that as well.

HELP - Im so confused ! :-)

as a followup - I dug around and am I correct in saying Cricut machines will NOT allow you to use your own vector art files? That you need a third party app such as make the cut in order to do this, and many of them do not support cricut?

thats a huge aspect for me as I want to create my own vectors of props - glasses, lips, mustaches, beards etc on a stick.

Im so confused!!!

Right the Imagine was discontinued and no you cannot use your own images, font, etc. All Cricut machines are cartridge based. You can do a Google search and find some other machines that will cut what you want, i think they print as well not sure about how well they do photo's. No the Expression 2 doesnt not print.

No to everything.

The imagine has been discontinued.

No, you can not use the Expression 2 to print and cut.

No, you can not use your own art on any Cricut machine.

Currently Cricut does not have any machine that can do this - nor will they allow the use of any 3rd party design software to be used with their machines. It's their artwork (cartridge or digital) or nothing.

We are not permitted to mention the name of the machines that have this capability, but HERE is a link to a thread on SplitcoastStampers that discusses other machines.
