Day 2 of my attempts to get my gypsy updated. I started at 9:30 am and it is now 1:15pm. The reformat stalled and now I am told by customer support that in order for me to get this done I need to upgrade by Internet which will cost me more money! Have they lost their freakin minds?

I still cannot cut anything with my gypsy!

All I can say is BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

I feel your pain. I wish the update was a zip file that could be downloaded to our computers and then installed.

I had the same problem last week and I called Provo Craft at 1-800-937-7686 and customer support told me that it was my Internet Security. So she walked me through a few steps so my Internet Security knows that the Cricut Sync is okay to use on my computer and it updated. Now my Gypsy is updated. Please don't give up because this machine will do a lot of things for you that the Cricut can not do! Hang in there and get help from Provo Craft they are my go to for anything and everything!!! Good Luck

Just tried updating my gypsy & had the same problem with the security issue - finally figured it out but now when I turn on my Gypsy it shuts off by itself. Any suggestions?

Does the power go off, or the screen turn black? If it is just the screen, you can set how much inactive time you want before the screen shuts down. I have mine set for 15 seconds. You can set it for a longer time. Just tap the screen with your finger or stylus to get it to turn back on.

Otherwise, try plugging it into an outlet and turning it on. That way you can at least tell if it's the battery that is not holding a charge. If it stays turned on while plugged in, then it is probably the battery.

I'm sorry. Do you have a friend with a faster internet connection that can get it updated for you?

Hello Darlene,

Are you getting any kind of error on the screen or are you just seeing the loading screen and then it is shutting off?

Hello DarleneSchneinker,

We are sorry to hear about the issues that you have been having with your Gypsy. There are some troubleshooting steps that we can try. They are as follows:

*Just so you are aware this does erase all your projects off your Gypsy. We would like to recommend backing up your files on your computer. We have been experiencing some issues with backing up project files. If you have older projects they may not be able to back up. We do apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. We are working on another update to resolve this issue.

1) If you will plug your Gypsy into the computer and open up Cricut Sync
2) You are then going to select “Don’t Update Now” if it prompts you to update.
3) You will then go up to the “Help” option
4) You will then select “Troubleshooting”
5) There will be questions that will now show on the window. Will you please answer them as follows: Yes No No No Yes
6) It will then prompt you to put the Gypsy into recovery mode. You can do this by doing the following:
a. Hold down the bottom left silver button, right silver circle, and the power button all together. A blue screen will appear.
7) Once this troubleshooting process is finished we would like you disconnect your Gypsy and try designing with your Gypsy

If after doing this troubleshooting process it does not fix your issue then would we would like to recommend that you call the number below where a representative will be happy to walk you through further troubleshooting or the replacement procedure for your Gypsy.

Have a wonderful day!

Darlene -

Whenever you plug your Gypsy into the computer, also plug it in to power.

I have had my G since launch, and only had trouble updating one time. I had to reformat. I lost all my projects and my linked carts, but after all the resetting, it let me relink my carts and download all my projects I had saved before the reformat.

HTH! and good luck1
