UPDATE 9/13 Check ins due if you haven't latelyBigGrin Also, read post #43 for a few reminders/tips.

9/3 UPDATE---Sign ups are over and we will be doing a total of 20 6X6 pages.
Don't forget, these need to be Christmas themed pages with typed recipes.
You can put your name on the back so that we can give credit where it is due.

I will post UPDATE in the title when I have something to add.

Don't forget, you can send these to me anytime.BigGrin
HAVE FUN!!!!

With fall right around the corner, the holidays won’t be far behind. It’s time to start thinking about Christmas gifts and a Recipe Book would make a super gift. The books from the last few years had some great recipes and the layouts were fantastic.
All the recipes for this year will be COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!! Who doesn’t love cookies for the holidays???

We will be making 20, 6x6 recipe pages. You will be able to get 4 per 12X12 sheet of cardstock.
Decorate your pages with a Christmas theme. All pages must be the same design but you don’t have to use exactly the same papers or embellishments. You can use what you have as long as your basic design is the same. For example, if you only have 10 red buttons, you can use green for the rest of the pages.
When decorating your page, anything goes as far as technique, color, and embellishments.
Please be creative and do your best. You have PLENTY of time to do a nice job on these. I am starting this swap early so you can relax and have fun without any stress. Make sure to "Tag as Favorite" so you can find this swap easily.

You need to use cardstock as your base so that the pages are sturdy. If you want to use patterned paper, adhere it to a piece of cardstock or it will be too flimsy for the book.
All recipes must be computer generated. No handwritten recipes.

Please email me a copy of your recipe before you start designing your page. ladyaruba12@cox.net Put “Recipe” in the subject line.
Sometimes the same recipe will have a different name or is too similar to another. Try to come up with a recipe that is new and interesting. I want a variety of different recipes this time not the usual Chocolate chip, peanut butter, or sugar cookies.

Before you send your recipes, go back over them to make sure everything is trimmed, glued well, spelled correctly and not smudged. I spelled something wrong once and didn’t realize it until after the pages were all assembled!!!!!

Due date is Saturday Nov 16th. Please no flakers, non communicators or late senders.
This is the last day for me to receive your pages, not a last mailing date
. I will be strict with this. If life happens and you need to drop out, please let me know as soon as possible. Please Pm me for my address if you don’t already have it. You may send them whenever you are finished. I certainly don’t mind receiving them early.
.
VERY IMPORTANT
—Please subscribe to the thread and check in every couple of weeks. Towards the due date, I will ask for weekly check ins if I haven’t received your pages. If I don’t hear from you, I will send you a few reminders. I will give you a reasonable time to respond. If you know you are going to be away, please just let me know so I don’t think you disappeared. Please realize that I am not trying to be mean. As in all my swaps, I have the right to refuse anyone if I think it will jeopardize the swap. This may seem harsh but part of my duty as hostess is to take care of my swappers and make sure they get what they signed up for. This eliminates stress for all of us. I don’t need or want to have to baby sit a bunch of adults. By signing up you have agreed to participate so you should follow thru without me chasing after you. If you are new to me or my swaps, I will ask that you send me your recipe pages a week early.

Send all the pages to me. It makes it easier for me to swap them out and doesn’t cost any more to send the extra page. Include a SASE with your recipes for your returns. Same $ amount as it cost to send them to me should be sufficient. Put all of your finished pages in a baggie for protection and label them with your name & MB name so that we can give credit where it is due. A padded envelope should work.
If you want me to reuse the same packaging, just enclose a return address label and the postage.
You can add an extra stamp just in case-I'll return it if it's not needed.

I think I covered everything but if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me.

Jean,
Can the recipe be for bar cookies? If so, I'd like to do Fudge Nut Bars. If not, how about Browned Butter Crinkle Cookies with Salted Caramel Frosting?

I think you know this all ready LOL, but every year I bake a ton of cookies and give them all away. Probably 15 or so different kinds and each makes 6-8 dozen. Every night for 2 weeks I am either mixing, rolling, cutting or frosting cookies!!!I have a few basics which I make all the time and then try at least 1 new one each year. Sometimes they turn out well and other times they don't!!!! I CANNOT make choc chip ones to come out good!!!! I gave up on them!!

Hubby has his favorite which are Holiday Oatmeal with nuts, raisins, cherries,& coconut added.
I usually have to make a double batch of those so he has his own hidden.BigGrin

I have tried to cut back every year and there have been years when I want to stop all together but then everyone says "can't wait for the cookies" How can I disappoint them.Smile
Luckily for me, I don't have any presents to buy for the holiday or the cost would be ridiculous!!!! I still do stockings for my adults kids but that is about it. No little ones in the family anymoreSad Sad

Finally! I couldn't login!

May I take a spot, please? Oreo cheesecake cookies.

And if possible, my mom would like a spot as well. She doesn't come to these bords anymore, but used to be in the old boards. If she can, she would like to do Christmas Eggnog Cookies.

I email'd the recepies, if that's okay.

Thank you!

I have never joined a swap before & would LOVELove to participate in this one. It combines 2 of my favorite things- scrapping & Christmas cookies. I love to bake & years ago started taking trays of cookies to the schools my boys attended. They are 25 & 28 now, but since I substitute teach at the 2 elementary schools in my town, I still take in cookie trays. The teachers start asking me in September if I have started baking yet & if I am going to make their 'favorite'. I usually bake 40-50 kinds (although one year I went crazy & make 72 different kinds!). I can send you a couple of the 'first to go' recipes & let you choose which one would fit in- if that is ok. Thanks for hosting this. Hopefully I'm not too late. Smile Merrie

I would love to be a part of the swap...I was an angle for a recipe swap a while back and loved all the great ideas! My recipe of choice is Chocolate-Mint Cookies. I will send an email with the recipe. It's yummy but takes time, I made it once for a cookie exchange and my family requests it every year Love
