I have only just purchased my Cricut mini i.e.3 days ago. I carried out the first project and everything was fine.

However, I am now trying to cut again and the blade is not coming into contact with the card.
If I press the housing down - not whilst cutting - to where is should be to come into contact with the card it springs up. When I select cut it goes through the motions but is never in contact with the card.

I have selected blade depth 4 and pressure 4 as I am using the same card that came with the machine.

Can you help please?

I am in the UK.

When you are cutting does the blade assembly go up and down at all?

My first Expressions machine was damaged and a wire had gotten disconnected (the welding broke) inside the unit and it wouldn't go up and down to do the cutting. I returned it to the store where I bought it and exchanged it. I've never had the same probalem with the new one.

No it doesn't go up and down now. It did when I first used it but now just seems to be up.
Does seem to be on some sort of spring but I don't want to touch anything.

I will have to see if I can take it back to the store I purchased it from and they can replace
it for another one. I've only had it 3 days though.

Yes, take it back immediately. If I knew how to sotter elecrical wires I could have fixed mine myself but I don't know how so returning it was the only option. I didn't like paying $200 for soemthing that didn't work. But I've since learned that a new machine is under manufacture warrent for a full year, so even if the store refuses to take it back and exchange it, contact CS and they should help you.

I'd definitely give PC a call just in case there's some troubleshooting that you can do to fix the problem. Smile

I've already emailed them and am waiting for a reply - I will then contact the shop where I
purchased this from and see if I can take it in for a replacement.

Thanks

Crossed fingers I've managed to get mine working again. I visited the shop today where I purchased this and spoke with a member of staff. I also purchased some more blades as I thought mine might be damaged. Just prior to this the assembly was coming into contact with the card but not cutting - had moved on from not touching the card at all.

When I got home I tried with the old blade still in and it made the out line but chewed it up a bit. I then changed the blade and voila it started to cut - have managed to cut from a new cartridge I have received on Friday.

Thank you everyone for your help.
