Finally had a chance today to mess around with some of the 102 tutorials. Just the brayering one and then using stencils stuff. Had fun! But I still haven't had time to watch all 5 days yet.

They are for my Halloween swap SS! Hope she enjoys them!

Oh, and wasn't that nice of Timmy to do extra videos today for how he puts his tags to good use. I watched half of the first one but then had to stop to finish dinner.

Just out of curiousity...how many in this swap also signed up for the TH 102 class? Not a bad thing if you did not join his class - I'm just wondering how many have access to his tutorials.

Oh, and I went to M's today but no Ranger heat gun in my store. I didn't think I had ever noticed it there. I'll be at a different M's before the end of the month, so I'll have to check there too. I was really hoping to find one locally just so I could use a good coupon! lol

I just used the TH glitter for the first time.

I'm not a fan of glitter to start with and I'm not going to be a fan of this either.

I need to try using it again, I suppose. What I learned is that you really have to put on a thick layer of glossy accents. And that is hard to do. You squeeze some out, smooth it around with your finger (like he did in videos) and I think it's hard to end up not spreading it too thin.

I knocked the excess off....set it aside to dry...but when I came back and picked it up I had glitter still falling off. And I HATE that!

I once received a swap (years ago) with Disney diecuts and she had used glitter on the diecuts. Well, by time it arrived to me...the glitter was everywhere! stuck on the faces of the diecuts, etc. IT ruined everything! SO that's why I am not a fan of glitter.

I'd rather buy the glitter paper on sale at J's or M's and diecut that! Heck of a lot easier and no shedding of flakes.

So that is my two cents on glitter. Sorry it's not more positive.

I'll let you know though if I practice and learn to like it better! lol

Well, you know I joined, lol. I liked the extra video too., great way to store the tags. As far as the glitter, never a big fan of glitter either, alhough I did like the the one he did with the snowflakes using embossing powder. I tried it, but it didn't work for me, guess I'll have to play a bit more.

My issue was actually rubbing the Glossy Accents on the piece. I do not like the texture or something. It grossed me out LOL. But I have to say I did like the effect.

I am also not a big glitter fan. I have only watch Day 1 so far but will see how he uses his glitter. I did like what I saw!!!!!! Love the Eroded Metallic & Resist techniques.

The only time I liked using glitter was at a SU event where you used sticky powder on your project and then slide it thru the gitter. It stuck really well and came out nice. I think thought it was very fine glitter!!!!

I do want to get a few things that he used but will wait until I finish all the days. I love working with the paints so might get the newest set.

I know I am not in this swap but just wanted to throw in my 2 cents...GLITTER is beautiful but a pain...here is what I do..use your glue spread the glitter and let dry..then put between 2 sheets of wax paper and run through your big shot or big kick and it seems to make less of a mess. Don't know if it would work with the cuttlebug but it should! I haven't completed the 101 class yet and hope to get it this week! Wanted to do his current classes but my life is working against me!

This swap is now officially closed, with no more sign ups.

Pixerframer, sorry, but I require that you have prior swapping experience before joining a swap of this magnitude. This is an advanced swap and everyone who has joined has been swapping with me for over a year and most of them for much longer.

I'm sure there will be future swaps opening which will be smaller scaled - better for someone new to this Message Board to join and work your way up the ladder.

It's always advised to join the type of swaps where you join a group and make a diecut or something for each person in the group; mail your pkg. to the hostess; who then sorts and returns an assortment to each person. It's a good way to show that you are reliable and gain trust and respect here with the hostesses. Start out simple and move on to more difficult swaps as you gain experience. Plus it gives us the chance to learn about you and see your level of crafting and helps to pair you up with a good fit for a partner.

I just wanted to mention that I know several of us will be busy concentrating on Christmas swaps or projects this next few weeks, myself included. And as we are all seasoned swappers, I'm not going to be quite so OCD about checking in between now and second half of November as I will be seeing most of you checking into the Christmas swaps anyway.

I suspect that now that Chem102 excitement has slowed down we won't be chatting quite so much on this thread until we get past our other xmas swaps. And I just wanted to say that that's okay with me.

We'll bring this back to the front burner in a few weeks again.

I just didn't want you all worrying about this swap this month if you are busy with other swaps. I know I opened it way in advance of the due date...so I certainly can't expect it to be a busy thread for that length of time.

But having said all that.....you are still more then welcome to post as needed and make comments about your discoveries as you try out TH techniques, etc. Or find good bargains, sales, blogs, etc.

I think all of us that ended up paying for his class are appreciating all that he shows us. I just think it's so handy to have one site to go to that will show us the techniques instead of having to search thru Utubes or other blogs to find what we are looking for. It's convenient to me and a time saver. And he does a wonderful job explaining and talking to us.

I'm so glad you gals started talking about this class of his last month so that I knew to check it out! lol

I love it when we are able to help each other out with info like that!

JCI. My buddy Rita took the Tim classes and I will be going to her house or her coming here to see what she has learned. I know she said that she had learned a lot.

Hi Jeri, hope things are going well with you. I will be sending you a PM in the next couple of days to touch base.

I have done the chalkboard techniques and the glossy accents with the crystal glitter. I am having a ball figuring out this swap. So many items to choose from.

As I was going thru my Christmas stamps today I came across a set that looks like it's meant to be used with the Chalkboard tutorial! So I'll be trying that one out soon!

But I got all excited when I saw those Christmas stamps!

JCI... Having fun here and there trying some things out, but I must say of all of his techniques, my least favorite is the chalk board technique. It would be great if I were doing a school related project, but other than that, it's just not for me.

I haven't tried that one yetBigGrinIt does look nice though.

I can tell you one thing for certain. Tim Holtz I will never beBigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

I have done a couple of his techniques but they didn't turn out anything like his did!!!!
Could be my color choices or my stamp choices also. It's not that they are terrible but different. I did a few using alcohol inks on glossy cardstock, so maybe once I get them trimmed, inked and added to a card or tag, they will look better.

I am going to try working with stencils and blueprint stamps nextBigGrin
