I have a Cricut Expression Personal Cutter 12"x24".

In browsing around it seems that different holders(housings) are sold for regular cutting, scoring, and deep cutting. Are different housings really needed? I understand the blades need to be different.

Q2....Is die-cutting really deep cutting a material? Or are die cutting machines different.

Q1 - you would need the deep blade for thicker materials. The scoring blade is for Tags, Bags, Boxes & More 2 to score the boxes in your machine.

Q2 - your Expression is a die cutting machine.

Hope I've answered your questions. Smile

Thank you Sherri Kay for the reply. As you can tell, I am learning the Cricut Lingo.

If you want to cut the thicker media {thicker chipboard, etc} that the deep blade is designed to cut, then you would want to use the deep blade housing unit as it is a little shorter than the regular housing unit {which allows the thicker media to feed into your Cricut}.

When I use my E to score, I turn the blade setting to 1 and the pressure to minimum. Then I change it back to cut. That way I don't have to change from the blade to the score tip and back again.
