I have a personal cricut that is very old. I got it when they first came out. I haven't used it in a while and never online. I need to do a project for my sons cub scout blue and gold banquet and craft room has the stuff I need. When I hooked my cricut up it said the firmware needed updated. It went through the first one fine and then it said I needed a second update. This one failed and my cricut is now stuck in update mode so I can't even use it off the computer. Can anyone give me any advice on how to correct it? I sent an email to support and got an out of office reply back saying it could take 8 days for a reply. I need help sooner.
Thanks in advance for any help

I have the same problem. I used the machine last evening and it was fine now - first it said I needed a firmware update - now it has an error message.
Has Cricut done something AGAIN so we can't use OUR machines??????

Yep, certainly Cricut has done something to keep users from using their machines because what company would want their customers to be able to use their products? OhMyGod

A quick call to CS should fix your problems.

I have sent them an email and they gave me basic information.

We apologize for any inconvenience in regards to the recent issues you’ve been experiencing with the Cricut Craft Room on your Windows 8.1 computer. We appreciate your patience as we resolve these issues. We have now released an update to the Cricut Craft Room program that should make the program compatible with the Windows 8.1 operating system. This fixes issues like:

-Getting Stuck on Initializing/Accessing Account when trying to log in.
-Not being able to complete Firmware updates.
-Loaded mat not being recognized/Checking Mat Status
-Issues linking Cricut cartridges to the Craft Room.

To complete this update process, you will need to visit http://www.cricut.com/home/usemini. You will then see the screen pictured below, select the green bar that says 8.1 Update for PC or you can install the update from http://craftroom.cricut....cricut-craftroom_185.exe as well. This will install the most current build of the Cricut Craft Room program (Build 185).

I have done all of the above steps. I even deleted the Adobe Air and CCR then reinstalled them.

I have even tried calling them. It just rings.

My cricut does not even stay turned on. I think it is still in the update mode.

This is very aggrevating. I use this machine for several projects and I feel I just wasted a bunch of money.

Hi it sounds as though you have the original Cricut and not the "mini". I would call PC and ask them for help but specify it is an old machine.

I have an original (which I have lent to my sister-in-law) and I have not used in over two years. The one I am having issues with is my Expression.

I did receive an email saying I should trying buying a new power cord. However they are currently out of stock and they have no idea as to when they will receive them. Some help.

I am about to chuck this machine out the window.
