WOW!! So much encouragement to keep on trucking!! THANKS SOOOO MUCH
Dang ya'll are good for my ego, I think I'll just keep every single one of you around!! LOL

I did my second project about 5 minutes ago. Its a box!
The design isnt perfect I need to tweek it just a bit.
What makes this a pretty special box is that I have no carts with boxes.
I just placed shapes together to make it. You know, like an envelope is one piece.

What Ya'll Think About This?

Thanks so much!!

Like I said it needed tweeking, the lid didnt fit real well. I made the mistake of making the lid the same as the box itself. Well that was silly of course because then it didnt want to slip on well. But I'e corrected this. So until I get my collection of carts built up this will surfice for now! YaY Face!! BigGrin

Awesome box.

I bought one of these at Michaels (using a 40% voucher of course) - its really easy to make boxes and envelopes. Although I do admire you for attempting this as a newbie on your Cricut!!

Well done, I would never have thought of trying to use my Cricut for a box, especailly without a box making cartridgeBigGrin

Whats a girl to do without a huge library of carts? LOL!! Flapper With so little to work with it actually challanges me to find "out of the box" (ha ha) ideas. Maybe this isnt a bad thing since it appears to be pushing me to really think. Hopefully as I begin to build on my supplies and carts I can take all of this thinking outside of the box to a whole new level. *fingers crossed*

Tonight I begin doing projects to decorate my craftroom! YaY!!
First big project is a huge floral welcome wreath! O.o

Thanks for taking the time to look and for making me feel as though Im moving in the right direction to learn my machine and limits, which so far have been the sky!! LOL!!! LOL

Happy Crafting!!

I meant to post this in my message above for the box making. This is what I was referring to. Unless it has been deleted cause it was a third party product.

Thanks Karon but I am selling my machine and getting a machine that doesnt limit me at all or require that I buy hundreds of carttridges. I have tons of images that I purchased/licensed from my web development days and I will now be able to utilize these once again. Now my creative really has no limits. And now, there will no longer be an issue with a company discontinuing a cart and leaving it on thier site without saying its been discontinued which is utterly misleading.

Sorry to hear that - but you have to go with what your requirements are and I wish you all the best.

I have an Expression but it does what I need it to do - I can understand your frustration when you want to do more. Good Luck :-)

I like this too. Since you have made a card to two, would you help me out with my card. I need to know what to use to INK the edges of my Snow White pieces. Do you just use a ink pad or what. Any help would be appreciated. Thankx Tracy

I use one of those triangular shaped makeup sponges, get it inked up with the ink pad and use the sponge to ink the edges.

When I'm teaching a scrapbook class the first thing I have everyone do is to make me five cards, I think making cards first will ease them into scrapbooking. Your on the right track you made a very pretty card.

I am definitely new at this, and am in no position to give advice. But I'm trying to learn all the tips and tricks to this stuff, and what has really helped me is YouTube. I saw a video about this topic and they used Tim Holtz Distress Ink. You dab it on the edges to cover up the white core of your cardstock. I went to Hobby Lobby and found that it comes in an ink pad and also bottles. They had lots of pretty colors, but just a little pricy....around $10 or so. I'd imagine it lasts quite awhile, though. I did notice that the Distress ink gives it a little puffed look, not only color. It really adds a lot to your edging.

Newbie,

Debbie Lynn
