Scootingranny came over today so we couple play on Design Space & learn. One thing we played with, was writing. I have the Cricut pens & the American Crafts Precise Pens. The pens look just alike & the AC fit perfectly. I used the Cricut fine tip & two different size AC pens. I love how they worked. I did learn to "prime" the pen first. Meaning, write with it a little until until the tip is inked up. I used the font from Creative Memories Tiny Treasures. I love how it turned out!
The first one uses the Cricut fine tip
Second- American Crafts 03 Precise Pen
Third- American Crafts 08 Precise Pen

ScootinGranny is going to post the other thing we played with...shapes of a set of Close to my Heart stamps, so we could cut the image, then stamp it. We followed RockinRenee's directions for that!

Update???
O.K. So what happened? When did they change this?
Two weeks ago today, ScootingGranny came to my house & we played with the pens & writing with the Explore. I posted the first picture to show how three different markers performed. I used the Tiny Treasures, Sweet Pea font.

By the way, my photo is bad- the writing looks good.
USER ERROR
No surprise!
I forgot to click "writing style" from the drop-down menu.
Crisis averted! lol!
A lesson for all of you!

Oh....is that one of your handwriting? The handwriting or font is really SWEET! I love it.

TFS; the signature and what the pen can do is awesome.

That is sweet for you to say, but it was the Creative Memories Tiny Treasures- Sweet Pea font.

Two weeks ago today, ScootingGranny came to my house & we played with the pens & writing with the Explore. I posted the first picture to show how three different markers performed. I used the Tiny Treasures, Sweet Pea font.

What changed... TODAY...ScootingGranny came over again, because CarenNewman was coming over to see what all of us have been raving about on the board. She hadn't even seen an Explore & has decided she had better look at it because she WANTS one now. (I meant to take a selfie of all of us, but I forgot. Darn it!)
We put the same pen in my machine. Used the same font and size. Now, instead of beautiful writing, all we could get was outlined letters. The strange thing is, the writing looked perfect on the screen...until I clicked on the icon of the pen- to tell it to write, instead of cut. When I did that, the writing went from solid, to an outline.

Cricut Gina or Cricut Lisa... can this be fixed? It was beautiful before...now it isn't!

Did you prime them again? If you haven't used them for awhile you may need to. But that is strange. I don't have an Explore but is there anything you might have done or pushed different?

Could it be that you need to pick the writing style drop down tab just under the font selection drop down box. I see you can pick regular, bold, bold italic, writing, and writing italic. Try the writing selection.

Did this help?

Yes, make sure you go up to the top right of the font box and click the down arrow and choose handwriting style. Only certain fonts will show as a single line (like handwriting) as opposed to outline (i.e. the way the cricut would cut a letter).

Thank you WishfulThinking, JensMom & Scootinggranny!
WishfulThinking & JensMom, I didn't select "writing sttyle" from the drop-down menu.
Scootinggranny read the posts & texted me to go try it out!

I appreciate the help.
There is a lesson I won't forget...I hope!

Did you use the same color on all of the pens? They look like different colors. I'm surprised because I just used my silver pen and it came out beautiful - I was shocked! If you're testing with the silver pen, you need to write on a dark piece of paper. Good Luck!
