Hello Everyone, we are seeing a great deal of confusion concerning three features: Attach, Weld and Contour.

We want to make sure you have all of the best information available. We have made some very good and very informative videos that explain each feature and how to apply them.

Please take some time to watch these great videos and learn how to expand your creative freedom using the features in Cricut Design Space.

The Attach Feature has two purposes:
1) The feature tells Cricut Explore what layer it should write on
2) The feature will hold your cuts in the design position when they go to the cutting mat

http://www.youtube.com/w...itle=Cricut+Design+Space

The Weld feature allows you to take multiple images and merge them together into one to create an entirely new image.

http://www.youtube.com/w...=c4-overview&index=1

The Contour feature gives you the ability to hide a portion of any image layer so your images work the way you want them to.

http://www.youtube.com/w...=c4-overview&index=3

We hope this helps, and please pass this information around to your crafty friends!

Loving all the PC Design Space videos. They're so clear and easy to understand. Smile

I've also been adding links to them on my blog.

Hope you keep them coming!

These videos are so helpful! Is there the smallest possibility the directions in these videos have been written out somewhere for users to print for reference? While the videos are incredibly helpful, while actually working on a project it would be great to have a written reference. I also find when I read directions while working on something it's just much simpler for me to retain the info. Many thanks!

I'm having a problem it wont like me attach the font so that it cuts in order. When I go to cut my words it cuts them out of order? Example Olivia i l o i v a. I would like it to cut as I put it on the mat. Has this happen to anyone else??

Thanks in advance

Take a look at these videos, they will help. If you are trying to use one of the features you probably have chosen images that have hidden layers that need to be deleted. You can tell by looking at your Layers box. The hidden layers will show an eye with a lie through it. To delete it ungroup the images, then click the eye to activate it, then delete it. Then follow all the directions to attach the images. This will fix the issue you are having.

I have done everything correctly, called Cricut and was told they are working on a fix for my issue. Hopefully it will get done quickly cause until then, I cannot weld properly. I am having trouble with welding in Google Chrome (already tried Internet Explorer and Firefox, doesn't work), when I go to cut, it doesn't go to the preview mat, just keeps spinning and spinning. Also get an error code about HTTP. This is a pain as I have some labels I want to do.

I get how it all works, but I don't like it. The functions and the freedom we had with Craftroom was better with each individual layer of an image than with design space. In design space you can't separate or maniputlate (contour) the individual layers of a composite image like you can in craftroom; just hide them so they won't cut. I have found that I can't do many things in design space that I can in craftroom, and not because I don't know how, but because the software doesn't allow it. I like the new stuff, but wish they had kept the functions and forms like craftroom. Really all they needed to do was to give craftroom more flexibility (ie using your own images and fonts, cutting svg files, etc)

I have loved the videos and found them very useful. When I was trying to plan out my project today, I thought I was using the "Group" option correctly. I thought it was supposed to group all of the objects so that they would cut as they were grouped on the mat. I grouped them and was able to move them as a single object, but when I went to the cut screen, it had the images all confused. I tried it again, after watching the video, but I still had issues. Then I had the HTTP error message when I tried to save. Very annoying but I don't know if that problem was me or cricut.

I wish there was a forum just for Explore.

Happy Crafting!

I have not had a problem with contour, I have been able to do everything I have ever done in ccr. You have to ungroup everything before you contour it. I really like having the layers all together makes it much faster, and you just ungroup and hide or delete what you don't want.

you want to attach, not group. In order to attach you need to first ungroup everything then the attach button will show up, select everything you want to attach and click attach.

Hi Everyone I just joined because I thought I was the only one having issues with the Explore. I can not get my word to cut the way I want. The letters come out in a different order on the cut mat. I have never bought a product that did not come with a manual one that at least gave you the basic instructions on the different functions of the product. Why do I have to spend hours looking for a video to learn what I want to do. I feel they rushed this out before all of the glitches were resolved.

Select all your letters the right click and select Attach. That holds the letters in their correct position.

And yes... a manual would have been helpful. Cool

Hi,
I am looking at buying the explore, but I want to double check a few things first.
Do any of you know if the previous replacement blades work, because I have several, lol?
Do you know how my digital downloads transfer between ccr & ds, is it just with my sign in?
Any tips on best ways to sell & price my explore 2?

Thanks TONS in advance,
Jenn

If you linked your carts to Craft Room they will automatically show up in Design Space.

Is this going to be like the Imagine? Never could get that to work properly, then it's been discontinued. Going to wait and see what others are experiencing with this machine and looking at alternatives.

I'm having issues when trying to weld images.
I've uploaded some of my own files-- intricate silhouettes-- but when I try to weld them together, I get all sorts of crazy results. Often times, whole portions of what I'm trying to weld together are now just solid black. Frustrating doesn't even begin to describe it. Any thoughts/suggestions on why this keeps happening?
