Conflicted. I put Amy Lendall on here and then took her off. She really does belong on the list maybe with a side note. She was in the die cut swap. She received her items then did not mail. There had been a death in the family three weeks prior to the end of the swap. She did not notify her partner, the hostess (me) or make note on the thread. She did log into the board during that time, but never on the thread in during that three weeks. I didn't hear anything until after the swap, no response to pm or email.

Really it just takes letting the hostess know so that they can make other arrangements.

Thanks all for understanding.

I also removed sharlenescrafts from 3 of my swaps. She had not checked in on the Halloween swap in over 16 days when I requested she check in by Saturday or be removed. I actually waited until into the week as the Christmas swap also needed to be check in to by Oct 7th. She never checked in on Oct 7th either in the Christmas swap.

SO I had no choice but to just remove her from those swaps and remove her name from the TH swap. She had not been assigned a partner yet in that swap though.

Sadly, I am adding a name to the Flaker List - LoriFromTX

It is 3 days after the Due Date and she has made no effort to communicate exactly when she would mail out her box - only "as soon as she can"

Further, she did not check in on time and had to be contacted each time to come check in. Technically, according to the rules, I could have and should have removed her from the swap from lack of communication. My holiday generosity and bending of rules was apparently not appreciated.

I will not have a fellow swapper waiting any longer for their swap box at Christmas time. Therefore, it's easier to remove her instead of playing guessing games when Christmas is less then 2 weeks away.

I have Zero tolerance for this behaviour.

I also want to note that sign ups for this swap were first part of September. That allowed 3 months to complete and mail on time and mailing early was allowed, beginning mid November.

Barb, you can remove LoriFromTx from the flaker list as she did mail a complete swap box to her SS the next day after I requested she be put on the flaker list. Hopefully next swap she joins she'll do better with communicating and mailing by the DD to lessen the difficulties that arise when these situations arise.

Yes -- thank you Gwen .... I will remove her .

Swap members - Please know that this list is not a personal vendetta against anyone. When you commit to a swap, it is a BUSINESS OBLIGATION that needs to be fulfilled according to the RULES of the swap. The hostesses are in charge of the RULES for their swaps and have a right to expect you to live up to those obligations when you make them. We try to give people ample time and consideration to complete their obligation. We also want everyone to be treated FAIRLY. So we are concerned that your partner does not suffer when you "FLAKE OUT", often bearing the monetary expense and extra time involved to make sure that everyone gets a return on their investment.
We have lost a lot of wonderful Hostesses over the stress of trying to direct swaps in the past year. Please take your commitment seriously.

WISHING YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS !! Wub

Well, we almost got through the first 6 months without a flaker - but, sad to say HAPPISHAY has flaked out on a lovely lady in our "CHeapCheap Swap" Sad after she was given a second chance to redeem herself. She will never be allowed in any of my swaps again.

FLAKER is just a nice way of saying "THIEF" in my book ! ThumbDown

Hi Everyone !
In order to be removed from the list, you will need to contact the HOSTESS of the swap that you were involved in and see what can be done to rectify the situation. Once this has been accomplished, the hostess who asked me to put you on the list will have to request that your name be removed. I am always happy to oblige !!BigGrin . There are some people who actually flake "on purpose" because they are just dishonest people... but most of the time it is truly unintentional. We all know there are situations when it just cannot be helped because people are having great difficulties in their lives. But to be fair, we try to have the "flaker" make it up to the person who was their partner who may have been wronged. So, this is the process we need to go through.

Happy Holidays to everyone ... and may the New Year be a "FLAKER FREE " Year !! Woot ThumpUp Wub

So a flaker can be on this list FOREVER if the hostess of the swap that the person flaked in doesn't ask you to take her off? That makes no sense and it not fair at all.
I am not trying to argue here but somewhere along the way, the rules changed!!!!!

This is what was posted on the original flaker list 2 years ago. She is referring to the host of 2 new swaps not the host of the swap that the person flaked in.

How to be removed from the Flaker List:
If your name is on this list you must have completed two swaps, "successfully", per the definition of the host (within their time constraints, within their communication stipulations and to their satisfaction). These swaps must be completed AFTER the date you were added to the list. Have the hosts of the completed swaps contact me with a note that you have completed their swap to their satisfaction. The HOST has the final call in you being removed, not me. If you are on the list for more than one swap, or by more than one host, you only need TWO successful swaps to be removed from the list (and added to the redemption section). Your name, once removed from the flaker list, will be moved to the redemption section. After 6 months your name will be fully removed from the list.

There is no way that the rule to be removed from this swap is that the hostess from the swap you flaked in is the only person that can remove you from the flaker list because many of the hostesses are not even here anymore!

It's common sense that we have to work with the present, not the past. It's a constant change of faces here on this MB! People come and go all the time. And most never come back!

This flaker list isn't here for making life miserable for those swappers familiar to us that suddenly had a personal life crisis and had to drop out or ended up not completing a swap.

I personally do believe that anyone, no matter who they are, should go on the list if they flake. Afterall, we all need to be warned that something is up with that person and let them feel a little humiliated if they never complete the swap, even weeks later, once their crisis has passed. A price needs to be paid for their paper crafting crime.

But always keep in mind that this list mainly exists to protect us from those that are the true scammers - those that never ever had any intentions of completing a swap, but joined in hopes of receiving free crafts, but not having to send any items themselves.

There is a huge difference between the scammer that joined a mostly buy swap in hopes of receiving lots of products that they can then turn around and sell on ebay and the crafter with the sudden emergency who didn't complete a mostly paper crafting swap and didn't send their diecuts or recipes or whatever.

The scammer is most likely never going to come back and complete 2 swaps and get back in good standing with us.

The familiar crafter with the personal crisis will hopefully eventually get life back in control and may need to come back and have some normalcy back in her life - like crafting for relaxation.

And that is why the rule was written for a way to redeem yourself by successfully completing current swaps and proving that you are in good standing again.

Jen I am not a flaker, I have had constant communication with you and that I have been sick off and on. I also explained I could not get that witch redone right now with the holiday season here. But I guess whatever you think.

I am curious as to why Robin never sent me a PM and asked me about being removed from the list. If I got on it then I would be asking for the favor myself. I would also do something for the person that I had wronged, which I feel is more important than ignoring her and making something for someone else. IMHO Love

Perhaps one of you would like to take this list over ? I am sure you could be better at it than I am. No malice intended or taken... I clearly have some erroneous info about how it is supposed to be operated. I would be glad to relinquish it.

No malice intended or taken by me either.

Yes, I agree that the flaker should make amends to the person they flaked on but my understanding was that they could redeem themselves by completing one or 2 swaps and follow the rules set for that swap. Robin did that.

I have been flaked on at least 4 times and those people NEVER made amends. Usually the hostess asks for some angels to send something to the flakee. That has always worked to make the person flaked on feel somewhat better.
Robin assumed that if she completed a swap then the hostess(me in this case) could ask for her to be removed from the list. That is why I contacted you.

I have no desire to take over this list and don't care who does. I have my own list that I go by and have for many years now. My list also includes those who mail late, have an excuse for almost everything, and those that lack communication skills. I have occasionally given some of these people another chance only to have to go thru it again. I won't do it again. It just takes all the fun out of a swap when you have to babysit a bunch of adults. Maybe that makes me sound like a snob but I get tired of the same old thing over and over again.
