Holiday Cards covering the next 7 weeks
September 7th ~ Oct 22nd

It is that time of the year again and the troops need Holiday cards to send home to family, friends and loved ones. We are going to put all the Holiday cards under one theme. You can ship your cards any time from Sept 7th until Oct 22nd, as long as they arrive by the dates below. You can ship all your cards together, or do them separately by theme.

Sign up like you usually do and then let us know if you want to increase your numbers. Now is the time to do multiples and to keep them simple.

They need Thanksgiving Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year’s cards.
These cards have to be shipped to the units in a timely manner. This is so there is plenty of time to get them to the soldiers, so they can get them to their families and friends.

**** First we will deal with Thanksgiving, Nov 25th and Hanukkah, Dec 2nd. Those cards need to reach the shipper no later than Oct 15th

**** Next are Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Years. These cards much reach the shippers no later than Nov 1st

* * * * For those of you who are new, let me explain how this works.

We have heard from spouses and family members of our deployed soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen, how much they enjoy getting a nice card in the mail. Since there is no card shop in the neighborhood shopping center, we are the next best thing. We have been told the PX/BX/NEX run out of cards quickly and that having nice cards to send home to family is a great moral booster.

Make cards in any way that you want. All different, all the same, or a mix of both. Just leave the inside blank to give the soldiers room to write home in and include envelopes. NO stamp necessary, (soldiers get free mail when deployed.)
A2 size cards are the most efficient to package up and ship (300+ will fit in a box), however all sizes are fine and appreciated. Do what you are comfortable with and again have fun. Try not to have thick embellishments and glitter is discouraged for the safety of the troops. We are told it can get on their clothing and be seen with night vision goggles.

***NOTE there is a FAQ thread with answers in this forum. Please refer to it if you have any questions.

When you sign up you will sign up for how many you want to do 15,30,45,100. whatever # works for you. You will also tell us what time zone you are in. The time zone will tell us to whom you will ship your cards to when you are finished.

That shipper will then compile all the cards and send them to units on the ground in Iraq, Afghanistan, or other bases. Each time zone has 2 or 3 units (a unit is 120-160 soldiers) to ship to.

Shipping is an expense to us that all the shippers have taken on out of their own pocket. However if you want to donate a dollar or two for shipping expense overseas then we welcome that. All money donated goes to pay for shipping to the units. YOU DO NOT have to donate any money to participate in this project.

If you have any qualms or questions about what we are doing with cards for soldiers, please ask in the thread. There are several wonderful ladies that help keep this going and you will get a much quicker response. The CFS Pm box is not checked regularly.

Thank you for joining us and for standing behind our troops.

Just realized I never posted a #. Sent ~30 Halloween already so I'll say ~30 for the remainder = total 60.
Thanks again for all you do!ThumpUp

twiggoddess, so your number should be 30 instead of 15. I only added 15 to the tally, guess I missed something.

I use Photobucket to add pics and click on the mountain above the reply post and copy and paste the link. I wasn't sure it would work but I'm so glad it did. I haven't tried the attach method.

twiggoddess, I believe if you look at your last post, you will see the ATTACH option. Click on it and it gives you an option to attach a file from your computer. I have not tried this but it is supposed to work. Let me know if it does.

I just tried this and it didn't work for me, don't know what I did wrong, guess I'll stick with Photobucket and the mountain

Got it now! didn't realize I had to check the box and then hit post and it would take me to the upload page. Kind of confusing to figure out! nice to be able to do multiple images so easily now! we just need to get used to the new board, loving it cause it is so fast.
The pumpkin cards I just uploaded are the 15 I just finished.
Thanks for the help, ladies!
