I am interested in getting the cuttlebug for embossing. There are no local places to buy one. I have seen the sizzix in stores. Now my question is, is one brand better than the other for embossing? And, where can I get the best price (deal) for the cuttlebug? I have seen them for about $65 is that the going price for them?

I purchased my dark pink Cuttlebug on HSN for around $109.00 but it had LOTS of folders with it. I'm very satisified with it, and use it almost daily. [thumbup]

Love my Cuttlebug! I got mine with a 50% off coupon at M's. (I paid around $40.)

Check out Amazon.com. Not too long ago they had a really good deal with free shipping.

If you are only interested in embossing, Sizzix Texture Boutique only embosses and is about $30 at M's. This week all of the Cuttlebug, Sizzix and Slice stuff is 40% off. The Texture Boutique will only take the width of A2 folders, not 5x7. Amazon has a package deal with extra stuff for $39.

Since I have a Cricut, I only wanted embossing and I just got the Sizzix. I love it-very deep impressions. I used Cuttlebug folders in it too.

Thanks for the great info. I do plan on only using it only for embossing. I have an E, so I cant imagine spending more money on folders for cutting. My M's sells nothing in the terms of embossing. The only products I could find were sizzix and they only had the big shot on sale for $60. I did find a cuttle listed on craigslist for $35 (trying to get her to take $25). So I might be the new owner of a cuttle, if not I might just buy the texture boutique.

My last question is, are embossing folders only available in the A2 size? So buy buying the texture boutique I wouldn't lose any options size wise compared to the cuttle?

Thanks!

No, there are a number of folders that are 5 x 7. I often find that I want the larger folders for cards and layouts. Also, there are now borders that are 3 x 12.

I love my cuttlebug. I don't use it for a lot of die cuts but every now and then it is just faster to use something I have than do the same thing on the E.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. I will stick with the larger machines for embossing since I was worried about size.

I just got the sizzix texture boutique, because I also have my expression for all my die cutting. I LOVE IT. You can use cuttlebug embossing folders w/ it. I got mine from Joanns they sell it as a beginners kit, it comes with folders, samp. of paper, 2 packs of 20 cards each. I paid 39.99 on sale for it. I had it out of the package and a card made in less then 5 min. Good Luck!
