Congratulations, you will love it.

It will cut other material.
It will cut fabric with a little preparation.
It will cut metal, shrink plastic, magnet sheets, chipboard, etc.
Some of these things may require the deep cut blade, but there is so much that you can do with this machine.

Just hop around the board & take a look at all of the projects people post. Check out the blogs that people have, they will probably be linked at the bottom of their posts. Go to YouTube & watch all of the cricut videos, even if they are not using the original machine, you will still learn alot.

You can go to my blog. I have a list of My favorite videos on the left side of my blog. They all helped me out so much when I was beginning.
See the pink box under this post that says Blog & click it.
HTH,
Lori

Is there a different needle used for cutting material. Cause I sure can't get it to cut any. Have set pressure, and speed on different settings.

you would use a regular blade (the one with the red covering - when bought new. But it has been suggested that you use a new blade & dedicate that blade to only cutting fabric. Just like scissors, once it is used on paper it is not bery good for fabric.

I do not have a needle with red top, it is green that is what came with the machine. I believe i will like this machine if i can get it to cut material.

The blade housing was green. When you buy blades the ones with a red rubber covering over the blade are the regular blades. The deep cut blades have a blue rubber covering over the blades. These coverings are removed before inserting the blades into the blade housing.
