I recently bought the Cricut Christmas solutions cartridge and when I press Blackout and then the "present" shape, it cuts the actual shape and not the present. Is anybody else having this issue?

Hmm this looks like a manufacturing defect to me. I e-mailed Provocraft yesterday, let's see what they've to say or if in the meantime somebody who's had success replies here.

I am not sure what you could do about the function itself not working but in the mean time if you have design studio or the gypsy couldn't you use hide contour to make a shadow or blackout? Just a thought hope maybe this helps!

I don't have a gypsy :( I just got an expression :)
Maybe I'll cut the blackout with hand.

I just got this cart in the Gypsy promo download...I checked and you are right...I don't think you can use HC in this case, because the image has some intricate cuts that are part of the outside line...so there is no straight line ...does that make sense?

I just checked it out on my G.
There is some difference, but very little. The only thing that i can see that is changed are the marks in the bow are not there in the blackout. The actual box part of the present is still lacy.
I actually think that this is how this works on this cart. There is no outer line so it is basically the dame cut.

If you notice the sleigh (button #6) is the same way. The bottom of the sleigh is still lacy, but the top edge has less detail.

That's such a bummer! It would've been so nice to have the blackout for this shape - I was planning to use it to make some tags.
