So, I bought the new Your Story from HSN today, however I am a little confused as to whether or not I needed to also buy the glue strips that they were selling seperately. Is that only if you aren't using the covers that come with it?

The glue strips are if you are creating your own book. And you don't need to buy them if you have a glue gun. You can just put a line or two of glue in the spine and wait for it to dry and then add your pages and put them in the machine.

You can use a glue gun?? I love the idea of the smaller YourStory, but would prefer to make my own covers... but since I have a BindItAll, figured the added expensive of the glue strips didn't justify me buying it.. now if I can use a glue gun.. then maybe :)

Thanks for sharing that info!

I just can't decide if I should jump on one of these. I have a Cinch, which is awesome, but this is so cute. Has anyone used it yet. There are no more glue strips for sale, wouldn't using the glue gun be messy and not bind the pages correctly? How does the binding hold up? I've never been so conflicted about 30 bucks, but I don't want to get something that will just take up space and collect dust after I use up the covers it comes with.Confused

I haven't heard of the other Cinch or a BindItAll so I can't help you with knowing the differences between the machines. The glue gun is not messy. You put the line of glue in the spine area of the cover and leave so space on both end to allow the glue to spread a little and not run over the edge. I put the glue the eidth of the paper. So the part of the cover that would be overhang did not have any glue and there was no spillage. I used about 3 lines of glue on the book I created because I had lots of pages (76 pages). I pushed the pages down at the beginning of the binding process (when the glue first starts to melt) to insure that all of the pages got glued. When it cooled, all of my pages were glued in. I picked a page in the middle of the book and held the book from that page to make sure it was stuck. It was. I have attached pics of the book I made.

I too have been debating whether to buy a Your Story. It really helps to know that I won't necessarily have to keep buying specialized materials. I can use my glue gun and some heavier card stock for a cover! Now I just have to decide - the Your Story Photo or the original. Since I want to be able to make 8" square books, I guess the original. Anyone know of any good prices out there?

Mashawntoney- Thanks so much for the info. Do you have the original Your Story or the new Your Story Photo? Cuz not everybody is reporting good luck with using their own glue, (the glue doesn't melt) and I wonder if one of the machines gets hotter than the other? Anyone know? Cuz I'm all about saving money!

I have the original. May I suggest eBay for purchasing the original. They are as low as $20. I haven't had the problem of my glue not melting. I have not used the books that came with my yourstory. I have only used my glue gun with cardstock, a stouffers lasagna box, and a cereal box. I haven't had an issue yet. Also, cricut just put some yourstory "girl" and "boy" book bundle sets in the rewards section. And hsn has the new yourstory with 28 covers (don't hink they are tru hard covers) for $30 plus shipping. I am thinking of buying the new one just for the covers. Just my two cents on how to save two centsBigGrin BigGrin
