The SWEETHEARTS Cricut Cartridge has such great images! Especially if you are in love! Or…there are very special people in your life. I was surprised when I cut out my first image. The negative pieces were just as pretty as the cut itself! I had to find a way to use the negative cuts. It is a little time consuming…but well worth the effort!

Supplies and equipment needed: It is important to get everything together and cut out images before assembling the cards.
16 pieces white cardstock @ 5 ½ x 11 inches (score at 5 ½)
16 pieces white cardstock @ 5 ½ x 9 inches (score at 4 ½)
16 cuts @ 5 ¼ inches of “Scooter” using red paper and the card feature on page 37 in handbook (#6 image)Do not remove from mat until you read Step 1
16 card fronts from white card stock cut @ 5 x 4 inches
16 card fronts from red paper cut @ 5 ½ x 4 ½ inches
Tweezers
Adhesives of choice
Score tool
16 envelopes @ 4 ¾ x 6 ½ (I use Walmart’s Invitation Envelopes) (for small cards)
16 “Foundation” envelopes @ 8 ½ inches using the image on page 81 in handbook (#50 image) You will need to use the 12x24 mat

Step 1
Gently remove the card-cut from the mat and set it aside. The negative that is left behind is for the second card. You will be working on one card at a time.

Step 2
This is the most time consuming part of the project…but worth all the work! Remove the negative pieces left on the mat with tweezers (or spatula). Apply adhesive on back and arrange the pieces on one of the white card fronts. The more intricate the cut, the longer this process will take.

Step 3
Complete this process for all cards.

Step 4
Place the red card-cut on the 5 ½ x 11 white cardstock. Center the card-cut on the cardstock. You should see a white border around the card. Adhere the card-cut to the cardstock. Repeat for the remaining 15 cards. This card is now ready for your decoration and Bling!

Step 5
Position the white card fronts with the negative image on a red card front. Center the white card front so there is a red border. Attach these together. Repeat for the remaining card fronts.

Step 6
Attach the completed card front to the RIGHT side of the 5 ½ x 9 cardstock. Repeat for the other 15 card fronts. This card is now ready for your decoration and Bling!

If you need to make several Valentine cards, using the negative space and the cut-outs help to speed up the process!

Those are beautiful cards. I love the idea of using the negative space. The images on this cartridge are too cute! I'm so glad I picked it up!!
I have some wedding invites I need to make with it.

I am in the process of making Valentines 2011 from Sweethearts for a 2nd grade that I have adopted. I plan to use the cut-outs to decorate a white goodie bag!
