So, we can't pull up, on the gypsy, the 4 carts included yet on the E2? Is that correct?

You can see them and can make projects with them but you won't be able to cut those projects yet because the cartridges aren't linked. We're working on that.

Got a new gypsy. Updated it - had a minor issue. On my macbook it says done and restart gypsy after it shuts down. Never did it shut down - it froze on "connected". I browse around and found out I can do a soft reset. I did. Tried a project, hooked it up with my updated e2, and it works! Of course I was just using the gypsy carts. I am yet to link carts..

So I need the latest Gypsy update to fix the fact my Gypsy and E2 are cutting off at least 1/2"? Will this correct the communications issue between the Gypsy and E2 also?

Edited to say, I did the latest Gypsy update and now my E2 talks to my G no problem and the cuts are not off now. Now if my little light would work while the G is connected my day would be complete. That was one of the selling features for me, I love that little light!

We are aware of the light issue when operating form the Gypsy. We will have a fix for that in a future update.

I got my Gypsy to update to use with my E2. On my designs I have positioned my paper to cut as exactly on the screen on my mat. But my cuts are significantly off. Instead of starting at the top of the mat, my machine goes all the way to the bottom of the mat and starts cutting there. Is there a fix for this? I have 3 projects that I need to cut and have wasted a lot of paper, trying to figure this out.

Thank you!

OK. I can cut with my Gypsy and my E2, but I still have to turn it off. What I can't do is get my Gypsy to update my E2, and I think that is why I have to turn it off and on to cut. How do I get my Gypsy to update my E2

Gypsy does not update the E2. Cricut Sync updates the E2.

I did update the E2 with the computer, but in the past I would plug in the Gypsy and use the "update Cricut" and it would update something. That selection is still on the Gypsy. Do we not need to use it anymore?

No. The Gypsy will only update the Original Cricut, Create and Expression 1.

Cricut Sync will update the Gypsy, Imagine and Expression 2.

My gosh! I cannot Thank everyone on the message board enough! I am not a "confident" computer person so first getting the gypsy and now the E2 (and doing the CricutSync on each) and getting them to cut a project....awesome! Came out perfect! Thank you all for posting your questions and Thank You Provo Specialists for making this easy for me. Love all my bugs!

Ok, I have a question. Can you cut from your gypsy to the E2 from a cartridge that is not linked to your gypsy if you have the physical cartridge in the slot on the E2.I keep getting a warning that I don't have the rights on the gypsy. Am I wrong, but I thought that I could cut on the E1 if I had the cartridge in the cart slot. Maybe I am mistaken. I didn't want to have to dig out my E1 to cut. I don't like linking that many carts to my gypsy. Melissa

1. Make sure your Gypsy and E2 are connected together before you hit the first cut button on your Gypsy. The first cut button is the cut icon that is on the Gypsy mat preview screen (the screen that shows the images as they will appear on your mat and allows you to move the images around and resize them). You must be connected at that point.

2. Make sure your E2 is on the Main Screen (the screen that stays up when you turn it on) when sending a cut job to your E2.

Also, the Imagine App on the Gypsy will not work with the E2. Only the Gypsy App works with the E2.

Not sure if this is my problem, but I do have a concern. If you use a Imagine Cartridge in the E2 and you want to use your Gypsy, when do you see the cartridges on your Gypsy? I have updated my Gypsy and my E2, however I have used them together yet. Do they have to be connected together before it (the cartridge) will show up on my Gypsy.

So I am brand spanking new to the Gypsy and the E2. Hubby bought me the E2 on the launch date (my wedding anniversary gift) and then after receiving it the 1st week of May I also bought the Gypsy. I had to mess with getting the Gypsy for an entire day to get everything updated on my computer and the Gypsy. I haven't had the opportunity to get into the E2 but have plans to very soon. I am also not computer savvy. Now after reading all of this I am getting very nervous and worried about my purchase of the E2...did I make a mistake? Can I find anywhere step-by-step instructions of how to update everything without it taking an entire day? Then as new updates happen will I encounter this kind of problem each time?

I bought my E2 then bought a Gypsy...I had some updating issues with the Gypsy but after a friend came over and helped me we got it updated. I was anxious about updating my E2 and yes, reading some of these posts did scare me a bit. But I put my big girl panties on and tried updating my E2 this morning and everything went very smoothly. Then I connected my Gypsy to my E2 and crossed my fingers AND MADE MY FIRST CUT! YAY!!!!!

My first cut with the Gypsy and the E2 I had the paper in the wrong place DUH but oh my I am so happy with them both!!!

Got all my carts linked too!

Linda, I am tickled for you. I love my gypsy.I bought it when it launched on HSN and have never had a problem with it. Once I had to run the troubleshooter and it just redownloaded the data again , maybe took 10 minutes, and then it was working correctly again. I don't think you will have any problems using your gypsy with your E2. I have been trying not to use my gypsy so that I will be forced to learn the buttons on the E2. So far so good. Let us see if you make something. Melissa

Am I correct to still assume that they preloaded cartridges can not be cut/using the Gypsy with the E2?
Are they working on fixing this issue or is this just something we're not going to be able to do? Just curious... I would love to be able to use them with my Gypsy.
Thanks

Hi Chris,

I just got my E2 and cannot get it to work with my Gypsy no matter what I do. I have software version 1.4 (0210:0220) installed on it. I have tried your suggestions and everyone else's and it just will NOT cut nor comunicate with the E2. I do so much with the Gypsy and the Expression that I really need to get this fixed. Do you have any other suggestions on getting this fixed? There are no more updates available through the Cricut update.
Thank you!

Tina, you have probably tried this, but just in case, I have only just updated my gypsy and E2 and when you use it it looks as though the E2 doesn't recognise the gypsy. You have to choose your design as normal on the gypsy screen and then press the cut button on the gypsy. The E2 then shows the connected symbol and you go on to choose the pressure etc on the gypsy screen. I expect you've tried this already but thought it may help a bit! Hope you get it sorted soon, it's a lot of money to invest in something that doesn't work!! xxsue

Yes, you are correct as the E2 carts that are already on the G cannot be cut until PC comes up with a fix. They are still working on a fix.

Not yet. I know we are working on an update that will allow you to link the E2 carts to the Gypsy but it isn't completed yet.

I just got my Cricut E2 last week and have been trying to use it this week. I am having a problem with communication between my gypsy and my E2. It is cutting the images "off", the images don't cut in line as they should, and sometimes it cuts on top of itself, if that makes sense. I called PC customer support earlier today and was told that it is a communication between my E2 and my gypsy, and that I just may not be able to use my gypsy with my E2, unless a fix is created by the product development team. I do have the most up to date version of the E2 and the Gyspy, so I know I'm as "fixed" as it gets right now. BigGrin I'm just wonderng if the team is working on a fix for this, or if I'm just never going to be able to use my gypsy correctly with my E2?? (If that's the case I would maybe consider sending it back and getting my money back, as I use my gypsy for everything!!!)Does anyone know if there is a "fix" in the works that I just need to wait out?

Thanks so much!!!

This the first I have heard of this problem so we are not working on a fix for this. I would recommend trying a different cable between the two machines. It does sound like a communications error but it could be that your cable is faulty so it is sending bad signals.

Every once in a while I plug in my Gypsy and get the "old" cut screen (with only the multicut number, no speed or pressure settings). It usually disappears and is replaced by the new screen when I unplug the cable and replug it. Any idea why this happens?

Also, I a big fan of hiding contours, using the skew button, etc. Will we be able to cut with the four E2 carts from our Gypsy soon?

I was having the same issue with my Gypsy and E2 last night (the old cut screen). Thought it was something I was doing! Everything cut fine but it was weird that would show up like that!!
