"REC'D FINAL"

(how was that Lisa! LOL!)

I have received my final gift from Joeysmom, and Shonda received her final gift from me yesterday! Hope everyone is receiving and we don't have any of those 6 letter words that start with F this last month!! Thank you again Lisa for taking over the hostess duties for Nancy so we could continue this swap to the end! You have done a wonderful job considering the shoes you had to fill! (Miss you Nancy!)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well,
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.

LOL!

Unfortunately, Jewels package is being held hostage by UPS.

(I'm not kidding and I'm not happy)

They are charging almost 2x the cost of shipping as "taxes and duties".
I will get this straightened out tomorrow morning.

I will NEVER ship to Canada using UPS again - I haven't had this problem with the post office

So Julie - I hope your package is worth all this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry

Shonda

I'm angry at the situation but NOT at Julie in any "way, shape or form". It's not her fault and I know her package will be worth the wait because I know what is in itBigGrin

Unfortunately, Jewels package is being held hostage by UPS

The hoops we must jump through!!

Here is where the "hostage negotiations" stand (I'm trying to have some humor here)

I have to resubmit paperwork stating the value of the contents of the package. Because I just said "Yes, it's worth $100, figuring if it got lost it would pay to replace the stuff, it is being taxed ggrrrrrrrr

So, Julie, the value of the box is going to go waaayyyyyyy down.

i will fax the paperwork to them now, but they say it will take one business day to fix this mess.

Note to self - NEVER use UPS to ship something to Canada.

I just hope I can remember what all is in that package

Sorry Julie!!!!!

No problem Shonda! Did they tell you what the allowed amount is before they tax? I am pretty sure its $25, anything over that and its taxable.

I just don't understand why this only happens with UPS and fedex and things like that, but people can send me huge packages through USPS and nothing?

I haven't received my last box yet, but the PO box hasn't been checked since Saturday morning...

When shipping to Canada, well I imagine any other country, there are 'brokers fees' (my DH, DD, and SIL all work for a courier company and do a lot of cross border shipping). The PO includes the brokers fee in the mailing cost, which is why they are higher ... the Canadian government can tack on our regular sales tax, but typically don't unless the value of the shipment makes it worthwhile ... when you mark things as gifts, it would be really nice if the shipping company would tell you that there will be additional fees at delivery ...

I have sent a package UPS to a friend in Canada. The box contains craft items (cricut cartridge, and a few hand made items) The value of the contents is $30. Please let me know any additional fees for delivery of this package. I will pay any additional fees with my credit card.

I have a hard time believing that this is really happening. I feel like this package is being held hostage, when all I am trying to do is something nice for someone else. If I had known this was going to happen, I would have sent the package using the United States Postal Service. I haven’t had any issues with them in mailing three other packages to this individual. Sorry, but UPS has lost my business over this one!!!

This is what I put in the letter. I know the daughter of the founder of UPS (and all her millions to go with it) I am sooooo tempted to call her, but I'm too chicken. Maybe a little note in her Christmas card.....

I'll keep you guys posted on this little saga.

Candy - I am soooo glad you had a post office box and they wouldn't let me ship yours UPS.

The declared value of $100 (figured what the heck) has gone down to $30.

Hopefully there will still be days to count down to Santa coming with your kids when you get the packageAngry (You'll know what this means when you finally get the package)Laugh

Is the shipping that much cheaper with say fedex or UPS?

For me to ship to the US, its about the same (maybe a $2-5 differance) for me to ship Canada Post or UPS to the states, I always go with Canada Post...well basically because the post office is right acrossed the street.

Does anyone know if I shipped a package to the US, will they get charged the same fees?

Jewels, I have checked it all out! Fedex is considerably cheaper if mailing here within the states for over a pound. ANYTHING inernational should go USPS, only way to go! Anything under a pound within the cont. US, ship USPS. UPS is generally always more expensive than both of those options.

Also, I mailed mine to my partner, out on the truck RIGHT NOW to be delivered!!!!

Danielle,
I am so glad you liked your goodies!
It was fun shopping for you!
I now own glass bead gel, gesso... (Not that I have a clue how to use them!)
LOL
I was laughing my Cursing off when I saw that blonde hair on package #1.
DS pulls it out by the handful... (babies- geesh!) so it is everywhere!

-Did the pink chandellier (ok that was spelled wrong) make it?
I was afraid to use it as a topper, but did it anyway.

Enjoy!

Geesh.. looks like UPS is the GRINCH!
I hope that is resolved today!

(Fill-in Hostess hat time:)
I have PM'd several ladies... We need there packages delivered!!!
If your lady is in RED on the list above, please contact me with the DC.
(Even if you already have.... I erased a few too many PM's when my box was full... oops!)
I have a few PM's about issues with weather and other delays. PLEASE GET THESE OUT!!!
I know it is hard with the holidays, and weather, but these should have shipped A WEEK AGO!
Christmas is only 8 days away. It makes me sad that people are still waiting.I will make and ship these boxes if it is not done by Monday.
So time to be ugly:
If I do not hear from these ladies I will fill the missing month and report to the dreaded flaker list.... yuck!

NOTE:
I AM NOT CALLING ANYONE A FLAKER! I AM JUST LOOKING FOR MISSING PACKAGES.... SO NO HURT FEELINGS, JUST GET THEM SHIPPED!

So, if you are still waiting: WORST CASE SCENARIO... SANTA WILL PERSONALLY SEND YOU A LITTLE CHRISTMAS CHEER... Hold tight...

Here are the exceptions:
Shipping to Candyhazard- she hasnt checked her mail
Misslu62- we all know the mess here... (Lisa grumbles... dumb UPS)
Loves2Smock.... Please PM your lady if you havent.

Thanks
Lisa

My package shipped out on the 15th. I made sure to get it out before Abigayil's surgery. I am so sorry to have shipped late. I received my last package yesterday when we got home from the hospital. THANK YOU!! I have not had time to open it yet, being very busy with a very sweet little patient. Her pain is terrible and I've been syringing fluids in to attempt to keep her hydrated. I really wish they would have kept her over night with an IV. She even asked to go back and have the IV put back in.
