I was trying to fill my days with things I could do while off my feet after foot surgery. I bought a KK loom kit and found a dog sweater pattern, I'm ok with it till I get to the start of the first leg opening.

I found a pattern on Jo Ann's site. Easy-to-loom- dog sweater.

OK I found the pattern. Im not sure, but Im thinking that the armhole for the dog is just a slit. So I think that would be why you are knitting only pegs 1 to 9 to form the chest. Im not quite sure how it all works out, I would have to test drive the pattern. It looks simple enough, but I find the directions are kind of on the slim side, not much there. I dont think the armholes for the dog are round, but probably slits for the dog legs.
