BigGrin being a newbie, I did go back to the old MB and look through all that was posted on the KK forum, but still have a few questions...

What type yarns do use for the projects you have made?

How many skeins do you seem to need for each type project?

I have so far just used acrylic yarn. I use two strands. I have a bunch of eyelash yarn I got on clearance I am dieing to use along with one strand of other yarn. I have no skill when it comes to judging how many skeins. I have only made kids hats until this week and I can already tell I am going to not have enough for the hat I'm doing on the yellow loom. I really want to used some of the thicker yarn, but it is expensive and I need to wait for a good sale or coupon. I am going to be a yarn hoarder like I am a paper one!
Good luck!

I use all types of yarn and I don't count skeins. I just by the largest of what I can find and if I feel I need more I just buy it than rather than try and get more later. Any excess I use to make infant hats and donate them to hospitals in the maternity ward.

Thanks girls...I bought some yarn last week at the JAs sale.
($2.50 each?) I bought two skeins of each color to see for the adult size hat.
It will be fun to see if I have enough! Blushing

I started out with acrylic yarns and then I moved up thicker types of yarn like bulky and wool. There is a website called knitpicks.com that have a real good deal on yarn that won't break your pocketbook. Also michaels and acemoore has sales every other week for yarn. Hope this helpsBigGrin

I have picked up brand new skeins at garage sales. I have collected bags and bags of yarn! I never worry if I have enough or not, I just knit. Scrapbooking takes energy for me while knitting is mindless and relaxing and I love doing it after supper when Im too fried to do anything else. And I can create beautiful things! I love it!

If I want to make a scarf and hat..I get two skeins of variegated yarn and one of a single color...I use a strand of the variegated and the solid ... the solid comes more yards to the skein... I usually have some of the solid left over and lots of the variegated left over...but right now I am afraid of running out.

I just finished a scarf and a hat with two skeins of yarn that I used at the same time...one had 255 yards...and the other had over 300 yards... the scarf was about 5'4"... and knitted on the long loom with the figure 8 stitch... on 9 pegs...and the boggin was on the next to large loom... 16 rows for the band..and 30 rows for the top of the boggin.

Hope this was helpful... I also started a book keeping the instructions so I can go back and look.

Hugs

Great idea to use a book to keep track, Jeannie.
I know I have enough dollar journals from M's that I could use to do the same!
