Is the Create still under warranty? If it is you could contact PC.
If not, I'm not sure what you can do for the doors.

As for the blade dragging, have you:
-checked to see if any paper bits are in the blade housing
Take the blade housing out and press the top to bring the blade out. You may see some paper bits on the end of the blade. Carefully remove the blade and gently tap the blade housing to see if anything is stuck up inside the housing.

If that doesn't work:
-the spring that holds the blade inside the housing maybe be broken.
You will need a new housing. Is there another housing you can borrow from another machine or friend to see if this may be the problem.

Please let us know what you find out.

AuntieKLE, The Create requires that you open the doors manually. The Cricut Personal cutter is the only one that requires you to press the power button to open the doors. I can also recommend that you call our Customer Service at 877-7cricut about the blade dragging. This can often be fixed with a new blade housing.
