I wanted to post some more pictures with discussion about some of the directives. So here goes...

Regarding the inchies or twinchies. I wanted to show you how you can still add some embellishment to them even though they are such a small square to work with. About 3 years ago I participated in a swap where you could only do all your creations using ONE cricut cartridge. It was a lot of fun but a bit challenging when it came to finding a diecut on my cartridge that cut nicely when only cutting in a one inch size or two inch size. So here is what I did from one of the princess cartridges.

So I just wanted to show you that the heart is simple in itself but being layered in 2 colors dressed it up some plus the red is cut in velvet or suede paper...which really add some texture to it (in real life). I used a nestie to cut my one inch square adding some more depth as the edge is dry embossed. And I think you can visualize that using three inchies lined up on a card front could easily make a nice card.

The twinchie is a lantern with the sparks of light surrounding it. Can you see that I used glossy accents to fill in the glass section of the lantern? And glitter glue on the sparks of light for further embellishment. Simple ways to add something to the twinchie, with little time or expense involved. And helps it go from a plain 2 inch square to something dressed up.

Then I found examples of a trinchie - 3 inch square. Much easier to embellish or find a stamp that fits in that space, for sure! But think how nice of a little swap gift it makes when you provide your partner with this panel all done up for her. She can just grab it and use it as her focal point on a card some day when she realizes at the last minute that she needs a card for some occasion! lol All she has to do is add a punched border or ribbon, maybe stamp on a saying and voila! she's got an instant card.

And this is why I chose making an inchie/twinchie/trinchie as a directive in this swap.

I imagine you all can find examples of altered frames on your own, but here are a few from my swaps. I received the autumn one and the red/black rose one. Both are lovely. The vintage car one was made upon request after I showed Laura the picture of my DGC sitting in a vintage car at an amusement park. So she did super job working with my request.

I actually just altered a frame for the first time this past Fall - the anniversary frame. Let me find that link to that swap and you can view all the altered frames. So many good ideas there.

http://www.cricut.com/fo...TERED-PICTURE-FRAME.aspx

But I did scraplift an idea I saw at M's, and altered large frames for the 4th of July swap and then for a swap where you had to create in your partner's fav. color (purple or lavendar).

JeanP just created a super nice altered frame in the home made swap for her partner's fish picture, using some fish netting, etc.

I've been slowly working on getting my pictures organized again, since switching to the new computer....so as I'm moving them to proper folders, I keep seeing projects that I could use as examples to comment on here. It's been rather fun to look at everything from the past few years and especially fun when there is a story line behind why I made something a certain way for someone. All good memories...

Let me see if I can start to post some idea for vintage, some simple, some maybe more involved, but might give you some ideas to work from. Haven't come up with too many pictures yet. I know the christmas theme really doesn't work but it atleast gives you an idea of what you could make. The JOY hanging banner is made out of individual wooden blocks, probably like 4 or 5 inch squares. The altered tin is a great idea and look what's inside - altered dominoes made into magnets for the frig. I posted the one tag using the dressform as it's a little vintage looking and does have lace and pearls. The xmas photo cube is a wooden item you can buy at M's, HL, etc. And it has some lace and pearls on it, thus why I chose to show it. The other tag is wonderful with a vintage lady on it and embellished nicely as shown in the close up. and that item with the time piece on it....that is an altered toilet paper roll, stapled close at one end! Sort of has a vintage feel to it....and I placed some ribbon inside it.

So just giving you some ideas of what you can make in these swaps, from tags, to magnets and photo cubes and banners and little holders! It's all fun and creative.

I won't be crafting again for a while. I think my heart is broken.

Last Friday we had to put down our baby dog, the sweet face in my avatar. She had cancer in her lungs and was going to suffocate to death, and we didn't want her to suffer that way, after she had loved us so long and so well. We had her for sixteen years and two weeks. We have no children, so she was my baby. I don't work, so we were always together.

Now when I go out there is no little face to welcome me home. No one to talk to before bed. No one to ask me to take her out when I go to the mailbox. No one to wash the plates after dinner.

I've read posts about lost brothers and babies, so maybe some of you don't think my loss is important. But my Princess was important to me. I can't stop crying.

Please think of us kindly if we drop out for a while. I miss her so much!!!!

NGGG, I'm sorry to hear this....take some time to work thru your sorrow but remember that your dog had a wonderful, full, long life. 16 years is a good healthy life! Soon you will be able to smile fondly of your memories and move forward.

NGGG, our furbabies ARE our kids, we love them just as much as we would love a human, they have the ability to touch our hearts and heal our souls, dont let anyone say your loss isnt as important, cause to you it IS, when my dog died it felt like a part of me died with her. Hang in there, I wont say it gets better, it just gets a little easier to deal with it. My heart is with you!!!

NGGG I know what you mean.. I had to put two of my babies down last winter and as you said it won't go away but it well get easier one day at a time.. I still miss mine.. one was 17 and one was only 6 so keep thinking of the good times and they would not want you to feel bad all the time.

I know for me crafting was a way of escape.. I know some of you might not understand but seriously it was a way to do something and not think for a while..

I'm so sorry about your furbaby Crying Pets are family too! Don't let anyone make you feel like your loss is any less important. My sister is a part time dog walker and sadly I've been making a lot of pet sympathy cards for her lately. We're here for you if you need us *hugs*

So sorry for your loss, as the others have said, we all feel our animals are our babies too. It is a difficult time for you, but try to remember that you gave that precious doggie the best life a pet could ever have. I wish that you will soon be smiling remembering the silly things that she did and the joy she brought you. I fully understand what you are going through and please feel free to PM me if you just need to talk or anything.
here is a very comforting website, please share your story, it can help.

JCI- I haven't had time for this swap lately, I've been working on two others that are due in March. I'm done with one of them and over half done with the other. So I will be back working on this one soon. I only have two objectives left and I know what I'm doing for each one

The final due date is 8 weeks away from today. So from here on out, that means you need to have completed atleast 2 directives and have the 3rd one completed by end of week. And then set your personal goal to be sure to complete one directive each week thru March and April. That will give you the last couple of days to take pictures of your projects and wrap and tag and box up. Maybe even include a little note to your SS!

So this might be a good time to expand on the above.

Not sure if any of you have checked out other partner swap threads, but we tend to wrap each directive (when possible) with tissue wrapping paper or other wrapping paper. Not only does it help to protect the craft item during transport but just imagine the excitement when your SS rips off the packing tape and opens the box to discover 10 neatly wrapped gifts for her to enjoy! It really makes for a nice presentation.

And make sure you fill the empty space with peanuts or airbags, or wadded up paper or grocery bags. You'd be surprised how much damage can be done to crafted items when they slip and slide all over inside the box. So try to pack snug!

We tend to make simple tags to put on each gift too. And I do mean simple. Some times it's fun to make themed tags (as in the 12 days of Christmas theme) or maybe you'll use your cricut to cut out 10 flower shaped tags to write on. Or it can just be a plain tag that you use to write on to indicate which directive she is about to open.

It's nice to include a little notecard too. You'll soon discover if you continue to do swaps that receiving notecards is a great item for us all to have on hand. I'll be the first to admit though that I often either don't have a notecard or no time to whip one up and will just write a quick note on a piece of paper. It's the thought that counts, right? lol

As you are winding down and have a good feel for the size box you will need - hunt that box down sooner than later. Nothing worse then having the DD sneak up on you and you realize you don't have a box large enough to fit everything in! So a little planning in advance keeps the stress levels from rising!

Also, check and see if you still have the mailing address or print it out and tuck it away in a safe place.

It's also a good practice to take pictures of what you created. I like to do so just for my own picture files for future swapping. I may want to repeat something I previously made and need to refresh my memory on exactly what I did.

But also, just in case your partner isn't able to post pictures, you'll be able to do so for her.

But I am asking that everyone please do your best to post pictures of what you received. There have been some issues on picture posting but it seems to have calmed down lately and we are all able to post again with ease.

And remember to not wait too long to come to the MB and say thank you and acknowledge that you received your swap box okay.

We always want to be assured that it didn't sit on the porch all afternoon and get wet in the rain, or stolen, etc. No one wants to be on pins and needles - worrying about the safety of the box.

And with it being secret sisters, it's not like you know your box is being delivered that day. So you're not given heads up to be on the lookout for it.

Bottom line: the point of me mentioning all of this is that if you get behind and are rushing at the last minute to finish up and mail on time....the last thing you need to find more time for is finding a box, her mailing address, taking pictures, or not having any tape and tissue paper in the house to wrap up the items, trying to figure out what tag to use, etc. So just wanted to give you heads up on all of this too.

For me, the final details above tend to take me an entire evening. So that's one reason why I chose Tuesday as the mailing date. You'd have that last weekend to finish your crafting and then Monday evening to box up. lol (I've learned from my past errors!)

Also, it is fine to mail out before the final Due Date.

My only comment on that is if you mail way earlier then everyone else, then some of the excitement wears off and it's hard to wait the final couple of weeks for your own box to arrive. I like to mail early whenever possible, but I tend to stay within a week of the DD, for these partner swaps.

BTW - there is no penalty when you don't do any of the above! Sometimes we do run out of time last minute and just can't do it all, with all the extra touches.

I just wanted to give you heads up on how to earn brownie points among your fellow swappers! lol
