I purchased a used imagine machine, and it doesn't cut when you set it just to cut. I shuts down, and several times after printing it will shut down and power off. The machine has never been updated and when I tried to connect it to my computer to update the machine found out the usb port is defective, unable to recognize port through my computer, so are unable to update my machine. Does anyone know if a computer repair company can fix or replace the usb port. Any ideas would help. Machine has never been updated. Provo craft doesn't have any repair services,

I have a defective USB port on my E2. I called Provocraft and was told USB ports were not under any warrenty. I did check a couple of computer and printer repair shops and was told it could not be fixed. To make a long story short I fixed it myself. If you PM me we can exchange phone numbers, I think I can explain what I did better by phone than trying to type.

The issue with it shutting off when set to cut only is a known issue and will occur even if the machine is completely up to date. There really isn't any reason to do cut only. If you put no color or pattern on your image, print and cut will act the same as cut only. Shutting down after printing occurs with some carts. It can be a touchy machine, but when it works right, it's a wonderful thing. Being able to update it would help.

Not sure why a computer place would not be able to fix the USB port. I've heard of several folks with defective ports on their Gypsy who got phone repair places to fix them. You might call a few and ask. Can't hurt.
