Hi,

I found a few .cut files online that are a few years old. I'd like to try them out but I can't open them. I've looked on the message board to find an answer but haven't been able to locate one. Anyone know how I can do this or if there is a link with an answer?

TIA

download and save the file to your computer. Open CCR, click on my projects or file/open where you have saved your files that you created, select the import at the bottom of files window, it will ask you to browse for the file you downloaded, find it and click on open and it will then import the file to your project files. You can then open the file just like you do on your othe saved projects.

hope this helps

If it's a true .cut file (meaning it was created using Design Studio) then you'll have to open the full version of Design Studio and save it as a .gypsy file first.

The trial version doesn't have the Save As a Gypsy file option.

Thanks ladies. I think I'm outta luck on the files. I tried the import option and I could never get it to open. And I do not have DS anymore. But thank you for the help.

Thanks Narelle for clarifying that. I forget that files are not all automatically ccr files.

Sthtxgrl - if you will post the link to the file, I will see if I can download and covert for you in my ds and then email it. It is worth a try and I don't mind

I might be wrong (Narelle or someone tell me if I am), but you might be able to download DS from cricut.com and retrieve your .ccr file in that way and save it as .gypsy. Then, you can transfer it to CCR?

I don't know if they let us download DS, but I think we have to, to Sync our machines?

I am having the same problem. I re-saved all of my .cut files to .gypsy files while in DS(though I don't own a gypsy) on my computer and when I open up CCR to import them, my "projects" file is empty and CCR ways I don't have any files to import. Any ideas?

When you save your file as a .gypsy file, it is saved somewhere on your computer but not automatically in CCR.

When you log into CCR and click on Import, you should get a pop up window to search on your computer for the file. Then, you select the file and it brings it into CCR.
