Is it possible to make over size cuts with the cricut craftroom? I would like to cut some characters for my classroom that are larger than the 12" mat size.

thanks for any help or suggestions.

Unfortunately you can't cut anything that goes outside the cutting zone with CCR. If you stretch your shape and it goes past the cutting lines that shape will not cut.

You'll need a Gypsy or Design Studio to cut larger shapes as they don't have the same limitation as CCR.

thanks for such a quick reply. I don't have a gypsy but I guess this might be a good excuse to get one, that or wait around until they "fix" that little problem on the CCR!

Is the gypsy as easy to learn to use as the CCR?

How large could I make a cut on the gypsy, would I be very limited? I am wanting to make characters like 3 to 4 foot tall.

With a gypsy or DS, you can extend the image outside the cutting area and your Cricut will cut what is inside the cutting area. Then you would move the image to cut another part and piece them together.

If you use the 12x24 mat, you can make a larger image and cut with CCR. You are limited to the 11.5 inch cutting aread.

Here's one of the Teen Scene paper dolls I did for my daughters bedroom door using Design Studio. (I didn't have the patience to try and do something like that on that tiny Gypsy screen.)

I used the 12x24 mat and moved the image around like Scrapalette mentioned above.
